I don't understand the logic. If Katharina is looking to sell, wouldn't she want to maximise the value of the club by investing enough to ensure survival?

I'm not massively worried about relegation this season but next is another story if we have a similar window to last summer. Look at teams like Newcastle, Villa and Swansea, they were all in similar positions to what we have been the last few years, and have either been relegated or look very likely to be. This didn't happen over night, it was a steady decline over a few transfer windows where they recruited poorly and sold their better players, this could very easily happen to us

If we were in serious danger of going down, yes. But I don't believe we are (and I'm not alone). So whilst I personally disagree that not spending any money this month could be linked to a potential take-over, I can see that the pieces fit. I'm not sure it would make much difference to a new investor whether we finished 8th or 15th, which is ultimately what I think this transfer window will go a long way to determining.

The one positive about having a fairly lacklustre season, is that very few of our players will be attracting the attentions of other clubs. Given that Virgil recently signed a long extension, next summer could be the first one since we returned to the PL when we can look to keep the nucleus of the team together, and build on that. And maybe for once we may have snared a coach who is here for the long haul, if we are prepared to give the guy time.

I agree, the logical thing would be to preserve the Premier League status, but I see no evidence that this is happening in this window (still early days), thus I stated, "Just a a consideration" in my opening line.

Still think it is virtually nailed on that Van Dijk goes in the summer but, provided Fonte leaves this window, losing only 1 player in the summer is better than losing our usual 3+. We are still (and probably will always be) in a position where if any of the big teams come calling for a manager/player they will go, so being able to keep hold of a player/manager is more that they aren't wanted by one of those clubs.

Puel and Black just don't have that "edge" time for a proper manager I say

I think we'll make one or 2 signings. Will be interesting to see what happens regarding the takeover though.

I reckon it might be done by next season, though I have nothing to back that up, just a gut feeling.

And don't loose sight of the fact that Uncle Les chose this route selling Mane and Pelle and appointing a boring but nice manager!

I think (I could be mistaken) that 'Puel and Black just don't have that "edge" time for a proper manager I say' should have a colon (or a full stop), thus reading as

'Puel and Black just don't have that "edge": Time for a proper manager I say'.

It reads better with a pause of some sort between 'edge' and 'time', but that's very presumptive of me to try to interpret someone else's post.:azn:

By Jove, I think you've got it.

Though I'm still not sure what the "edge" is that they apparently don't have.

Still doesn't explain why Puel isn't a 'proper manager' though...

The thing is, Puel does have a lot of interesting qualities, which gives us a good chance to show his interesting possibilities.

I don't pretend to understand the underlying sentiment, but at least it is readable.

Maybe Saintkeef considers that Claude and Eric don't kick over enough drinks bottles, or throw enough boots around the changing rooms, and if they did exhibit some of this type of characteristics, they would get more out of our players. Maybe Puel is too 'nice' to be a Premier League manager, in Saintkeef's opinion.
See my previous post, about my presumptiveness.

Whether fair or unfair, football is an entertainment industry, and Puel is about as entertaining as my thumb. I think that is why a lot of fans have been against him, even before the boring football and bad results.
