I recall the issue was also that he could not take it when people were doing similar
on the Goon board (so he banned them) . So the Spurs mods reciprocated.

Again no, the only people I banned got many warnings about disrupting every thread who were all spud wums but the damage they did did impact on some people. If I did something wrong it was waiting too long but still never deleted posts. I resigned due to work and not having enough time so I passed it on...something you should do!
