OK, let's take an utterly pessimistic point a game. If that carried on (and I've been arguing elsewhere that it won't; this run of four games is an outlier). So, we're on 24 points. 17 games and we're on 41 points. Past five seasons if we'd ended up on those points we'd have been 16,14,13,16,16th respectively. Go back to our season average so far of 1.14 gives us another 20 points leaving us 13,13,11,11,15th in the past five seasons.

Bulletproof logic aside, we are s***, the manager is s***, the players are s***, the officiating is s***, the season has turned to s***, the formation is s***, the transfer window is s***.

 

Like I said, I personally don't think we'll get relegated, but for people to totally disregard the possibility especially on current form, is madness.

As I've said on previous posts, there are several things need sorting before the close of the transfer window.

Fonte needs to move on for more than one reason, and we need a couple of new signings, to refresh things, and to support Puel. We are very thin up front, if Austin doesn't come back until end of March / beginning of April, and we suffer another injury??? And if a Fonte goes we're in the same predicament at CB.

The Board need to support Puel now, and even Puel has changed tact in his last interview about needing a striker especially. We can't keep pissing off our managers time and time again. I don't think Puel expects the same as RK or MP in fairness, but he will expect support from LR.

 

I've shown that on current form it is not madness. I even used your data (by the way, it's 16 points from the last 15 games). On your definition of current form we're likely to end up 13th or 14th. No judgement, just using current form and extrapolating to the end of the season. No madness.


Anyway, it sounds like you think relegation is much more than a 1/100 chance, so I advise you to get down to Corals and take their 100/1

Depends what you can class as current form. I looked at the last 15 games to try and get a perspective, however some could look at the last 4 and blow all theories out of the water. And as I said numerous times, I don't think we'll get relegated, However if we don't get a win from one of the next 3 games, you won't get 100/1 at the bookies.

 

Worrying about relegation is madness as there is nothing we can do about it. If you are going to be sick as a parrot in May, why start in January. The only people who need to be considering it as a possibility are the players, manager and board.

 

Big IF, but all this points to keeping at the same level or improving.

We could actually get worse.

One team usually goes into free fall from Dec in.

Not saying that it is us, but that it could be us.

I'm with Brixham, it could happen and is right to consider it.

Right, has anyone seen much of Gabbiadini apart from you tube clip with terrible trance? Could he make the difference?

 

I'm quite ignorant of other leagues, I don't know anything on this lad apart from he plays upfront for Napoli.

 

I mentioned him on the way back from Swansea to a seemingly-knowledgable commentator who works for BT Sport, various other high profile channels and world feeds, and regularly commentates on Italian football (as well as French football).

He says it'd be a bad signing. No idea if it's right or not, but he was pretty certain and the guy watches a lot of Serie A.

His exact words were 'you'd be better off going for Marco Gabbiadini'. Spoke highly of Alassane Plea at Nice, though.

 

I've only heard that his hold up play is good. It's a start!
