Really like what I have seen so far from the guy. Plays a lovely cross the field ball has a bit of flair & doesnt mind a tackle. Seroiusly thinking about moving him into my dream team as I think he will be a regular starter for us & could be contender for player of the season if he can keep up his early form back in a white shirt. A very good find by Larry.
Adam clayton has been a revelation. Really impressed actually cos I thought he was **** initially. Why was Paynter not even on bench btw, anyone know? Couldn’t hit water if he fell from a boat that one but I’m just curious.
Pags I'm waiting for liw to take it back about Clayton he reminds me of batty n love how he gets stuck in! I like the way brown sat back n didn't do much because that made Clayton stand out
Clayton was feeble and not up to scratch when he first joined, dont think anyone can argue that. I saw him at the back end of last season in reserves though and he had bulked up a lot and was generally running the midfield. SG works the loaning out perfectly, and seems to let them go to clubs where they really progress and they then come back 3 times the player they were, as can be seen with Clayton and Nunez. Imo Clayton has everything. He gets stuck in, has great vision and great passing ability and gets up and down the pitch. His ball over the top to Mc was perfect (shame finish was Paynter standard) and his calmness to set up Nunez for first was excellent. Howson also seems to be really showing his ability on a consistent basis now so we could well have a fantastic central midfield for years to come, especially once the defence is finally sorted out so they really can do their stuff without having to worry too much about an idiot behind them cocking up.
Kissa Ive got it wrong about Clayton, and have admitted it already. He reminds me of seth Johnson (when he was good) And nunez runs like Lennon Paggs <love> But watching Brown in the flesh for the first time, legs have gone, not mobile enough
Assuming you are right about Brown, and I personally think he will do a job for us and will be fine, do you think we would then need to revert to a 442 when Becchio is back, with Clayton and Howson at CM, and Snod and Grad out wide, with Mc and Becc up front? I wouldn`t like to see either Howson or Clayton being tied down to just patrolling the edge of our 18 yard box.
Tough one Midfield of gradel, snoddy, howson and clayton. Might be alittle bit exposed away from home. But I know alot dont like him but johnson along side clayton and howson I think would have worked really well. All mobile, and thats what modern football is about and that why in my view Brown will not be good enough for us
Paynter will never be 100%,apparently in his first game for Leeds he took a knock to the head which affects the part of the brain that controls his general ability to control the ball, score goals etc.
Yep, really wanted to keep Johnson, thought he did very well for us when he finally broke through. I always think of the Arsenal CM of Viera and Petit. Defended, tackled, created, scored goals. Thats the aim for a top CM and hopefully with Clayton and Howson we have two who can do that. Hpefully it will be hard to change things when Becc is back because Ross and Brown are doing their jobs. If our fave Argentinian is kept on the bench for that reason then I won`t be complaining.
Its on my follow list, quite recent so you should find it easy. Think he was at KFC the other day nursing a hangover.
Yeah, "Leeds United target man, Swindon legend and future England International" . IMO Clayton and Brown will work well together this season. Brown will sit back and do the dirty work and make the simple passes to allow Clayton and Howson to shine. I would have rather kept Johnson than not because of his heading ability and versatility, but in the CM role Clayton's been doing what I wanted Johnson to do; actually be a box to box midfielder, he also plays some passes that Killa can only dream of.
Only downside with Clayton, and it is a big downside, is that he is an out and out dirty Manc bastard. Get the Manc out of Leeds.
