Lots of rumours during the week of proposed anti bates protests for tonight. Did these happen and to what extent?

The protests are arranged for Saturday. There were some fairly loud anti-Bates chants in the Kop though, which was nice to see. Came across on the telly quite well when I watched it back after coming home. <ok>

Peter Lorimer didn't come acrosss very well, just as he doesn't in his column.

I found his comments about the lack of transfer activity frightening.

He's paid to trot out the party line. Analyzed the play OK but you can tell he's spewing propaganda when matters turn to squad size, transfers, last season etc.

Grayson is the same except he doesn't analyse play very well.

Totally correct Spanish. Problem is a lot of the guys on here would never have seen him play. Sixties team all legends and have more footie knowledge in their little finger than all of us here collectively

It's because of players like hot-shot that put this club on the map. I'm not saying any of Revie's players are above criticism, but to the older generations of fans, they are like gods.

They are like gods because of their playing ability, but that doesnt mean what they say should be taken as gospel.

    Lorimer talks alot of rubbish

That's your opinion. But there are a lot of supporters who were lucky enough to be around when the great side were playing, that might disagree. Just because you don't agree with what he says, doesn't it mean he speaks rubbish.

    Shako

I wasnt really clear, am sorry, when I said rubbish, i wasnt really thinking about the football side, I think he makes alot of sense in that regard.

I was more on about how, when he talks in the YEP these days, its like he saying what bates wants him to say. Thats how it comes it across to alot now.

    He's not impartial

No problems NW, I understand what you mean. It's my problem really because I always get wound up when it comes to Revies players. I admit I'm blindly loyal to them and so probably clouds my opinions and judgement.

I will always love them for what they did for the club and how they are still Leeds through and through after all these years. Norman Hunter and Paul Reaney walked quite close by where me and my son were sitting at Newc friendly and I was as excited pointing them out to him and telling him who they were as if it had been Messi!

    However

Eddie Gray babbles some real annoying stuff sometimes and he does get on my nerves in that respect. I think it`s ok to seperate an opinion of their performance in their current job as pundit etc whilst still keeping the love for them.

A bit like working with family I suppose. Love them after 5pm, can be a complete arse from 9am until then.

Peter Lorimer is a lovely bloke, met him, spoke to him, lovely etc.

But he changes his mind on everything. I’m sure he just spouts whatever is thrown to him by the club but isn’t he on the board of directors? Or in some kind of capacity like that?

The Alan Smith stuff is what has kind of make me thinkt his cos I’m certain not that long ago he said one thing, and now he says another. Make up your mind and stand by your opinions. That’s all I ask.

But he is a legend and always will be but it has to be pointed out he is employed by the club so will not say ANYTHING negative.

When I met him & both Grays they were both happy to talk openly & honestly about the club.

When on TV he is probably advised what is in the clubs best interests to say & which to avoid. ITs just good PA work at the end of the day.

Lorimer alway sounds like he doesn't want to criticise the club in anyway. Can't really complain at him for doing that.

Yeah it's the contradictions I have a problem with, Pags.

Everyone seems to contradict themselves when talking about our club at the moment.

I miss Norman on the radio. He was one of the best commentators, not only for Leeds but in the whole of football.

Legend as a player, yes-man as a club operative. Of course he should be fondly remembered, but he lies and bumbles to cover for Bates in the same way that Grayson has to. Can't escape that fact.

If you're being critical of Lorimer for that then surely you must be critical of Grayson?
