On behalf of all Evertonians, I can only apologise in advance for this half arsed beaut. I'm delighted I'll never have to witness him wearing the Royal Blue again Enjoy
he was good when we had him when he way younger Tobes... I hope he is better with us than he was with you...
He was bloody awful most of the time mate. ****ting out of tackles never gets you liked at Goodison, and Cleverley was guilty of it regularly. In fairness he's technically not a bad player, he's just beige, you struggle to work out what he's actually supposed to be. All joking aside, I hope he does well for you, but I wouldn't have any money on it.
Seems like a loan with an option to buy at the end of the season - so if he doesn't perform, we just won't buy, so seems like a good deal for us. I do see him more of a squad player for us when everyone is fit, rather than a regular starter, and imagine the main reason we got him is because he is English/home-grown. Maybe he will have a point to prove and be excellent for us... we will wait and see!
Well he did score goals for us which is what we need. Cannot say I remember him being noted for getting really stuck in so maybe best not to rely on him for that.
When he was with us originally he was used as an attacking player and liked to take defenders on (Championship defenders I admit). Whenever I've seen him on TV more recently he seems to have taken a more central role and done a lot of passing the ball square across the field, rather in the Ray Wilkins mode. Let's hope the move re-energises him!
I am hopeful about this signing. Better the Gued's? Competition for Capoue? Something in between the two? Possibly just what we need.
Apparently in his one season with us he scored 11 goals. In the 7 seasons since then he has also scored 11 goals.
When he played for us before he played as an attacking midfielder - a number 10. With his experience now he can play in a few different positions. I'm hoping he is allowed to express himself and play attacking football. We shall see; but he is English and he has Prem experience and he is a previous player of the season so we should be happy to see him at the Vic.
I thought he had a touch of Scholes about him. Will never forget how he guided Lloydinho to the fans when Lloyd scored his first ever goal. Poor sod didn't know what to do with himself till the kid Cleverley stepped in and pushed him towards the fans in the Vic Road end.
