Assuming they were allowed to join the premier league, they could possibly get to the top 6 if they could somehow stay in the premier league for about 8 seasons and invest the premier league money into player purchases every year to claw their way up. They would probably be relegated in their first season however, and then struggle to get promoted.

I don't think they would cope with the pace and power of the Premier League, Scottish football doesn't even match up to the intensity of the Championship and the behaviour of their fans is akin to a rampaging army when coming south, the hostility towards the English is distilled to quite an intensity in these fans.

In current state no. I'll be a dissenting voice though. If they played in England they'd be ****ing huge. They have a massive following, they are ****ing global. I think some people underestimate just how big that club is. Their problem is the league they compete in. This means they can't attract the top players, and therefore cannot compete in Europe. Its all about money and they are restricted in their ability to generate and attract it by their competition. The same rule would apply too, they would need huge foreign investment like Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. They would in all likelihood get it though.

Its all hypothetical bullshit anyway. What a stupid ****ing question. If my uncle had a flange he'd be my aunty.

Why don't they just move the club to somewhere like Berwick, or just over the border? It's not like Celtic is a place so the name of the club has no reference to it's geographic location, like Glasgow Rangers or Newcastle etc etc. I still don't understand how ****ing Swansea make it into the English Premier League like!

Didn't they used to be known as Glasgow Celtic?

Have just checked on their website and it just appears to refer to Celtic FC. Always thought it was a bit like Manchester United being called United and Glasgow Celtic being called Celtic. Also thought before their demise that Rangers were called Glasgow Rangers but now not so sure.

So Celtic would become the Berwick Terriers with about as much support as that name implies, move the club lose the fans, especially if they were relocated to England. As for Welsh clubs playing in English leagues this comes from the fact that they played in the English leagues before there was a Welsh Premier League and other setups, the WFA enforced movement into their leagues which some of the small clubs resisted as did bigger more established clubs.

The thing about the Premier League is that once you are in it the potential is limitless. Just look at some of the players that have been bought through the years by teams such as Wigan, Leicester, Bournemouth, etc. A club of Celtic's size would be massive in the Premier League - and they aren't the only Scottish team who would have the potential to establish themselves in the league. A team of Celtic's stature would have no problem attracting the very best players to play for them in the Premier League.

I know it's hypothetical but I'm dead against Celtic/Rangers coming to England. It bothers me that Swansea are in the ENGLISH Premier League.

Agree with both points but for different reasons.

Celtic/Rangers as we are essentially the ENGLISH Premier League.

Swansea because of Valley. Don't mind Musty but I'm sure Valley's eyes are too close together. :emoticon-0145-shake

You're all talking nonsense. They should move the club to the unspoiled footballing hotbed of Milton Keynes.

I wouldn't like to see it happen, and don't think any team should be allowed to leave their own national league and join another country's league. If they ever were allowed to on an individual basis then they should be made to start at the bottom of the footballing pyramid (within reason) like any other new club would have to do.

While I can't see any individual team joining, it wouldn't shock me if one day we had a British league where a number of league systems merged into one (possibly with the Irish Republic too). I wouldn't be in favour of it, but can see the day when we end up with a Scandinavian league, an Iberian League, a Benilux League, and a British League etc. It might end up being the only way to stop the greed of the massive clubs from forming a breakaway European League.

Call me new fashioned, but I'd love to see the formation of the World Soccer League. No promotion, no relegation, all about money/advertising. Format is already sorted, thanks to UEFA. Invite some moneybags clowns from China and the US to participate, let players see how much fun it is hopping on long haul planes every other week. Pop Celtic in there with Real, Chelsea, City, Red Bull Leipzig and Shanghai Gangzuen (or whatever).

Imagine being in a league better than the Championship, but where you could realistically aim to win it every year.
