Jenas isn't bad. But mostly, I watch motd to see the football highlights, not to watch people talk about football. So more footie and less talking would always be an improvement.
The problem with all of them is that they feel they have to make a comment on something really clandestine & if it's not glaringly obvious, they sortof make it up. Their analysis with the vid board is similar to "sound bite journalism", which I absolutely detest.
There was a discussion about this on the PL board the other day and a Spurs fan rightly pointed out that Jamie Redknapp is an utter, utter twat.
According to the BBC Sportsday page: The Sun claims West Ham have bid £4m for Southampton defender Jose Fonte. Fonte, 33, will not play for Southampton against Liverpool in their EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening after handing in a transfer request last week. Everton and Crystal Palace are also in the running for the Portugal international, according to the Sun. Then again, it's the Sun...
I think it was Hansen did an analysis of Morgan after a game where he showed a couple of good tackles but then selected moments showing that his real skill was his positional awareness and how he was always in the line of the best pass. He'd looked behind the flashy stuff. Whereas Savage et al are transparent in looking for three obvious moments and padding two or three minutes of drivel around it. Vin
I wonder what Jose made of last night. Of course he has had some amazing times with us, but what about last night under the lights. This year he has watched on us beating Milan at St Mary's and now winning the first leg of a semi final. He must feel a little tinge of regret as money buys you cars/houses/security, but to quote a Mastercard advert, memories like those are priceless.
If we get to Wembley, & Jose isn't there after having helped us lift the JPT seven years ago, it will be very sad. But he'll only have himself to blame.
Wonder what he'll be thinking when watching the EFL Final from a hotel room as Saints lift the trophy. A trophy he could have guided us to.
Can't deny I am disappointed that he didn't wish Saints well on instagram or congratulate them. I know he's put in a transfer request but he was supposed to love the club just a short time ago and in theory is still the club captain. It's a shame the way it appears to be ending.
Solent said last night that Fonte's agent advised him to sign the new contract offered by Saints, but he has refused to sign? Sounds to me like his agent is in serious reverse mode, realising that he has f*#ked up in advising Fonte that his stock was sky high after the Euros and that Man Utd etc wanted him. This has turned Fonte's head, possibly making him a big time Charlie around the squad? Guess his choices could be: 1. Sign the new contract at Saints, saying that it was never in doubt, and that the written transfer request was a big misunderstanding (ye right). Or 2. Probably sign for Palace or West Ham, and go quietly.
Fonte has been a good player for Saints......I am so disappointed he seems to want to end his career away from the team that helped him become an international. That helped him develop his career even though he stepped down a division to join us. Not only am I disappointed by this but also baffled he was doing so well. I suppose we will find out what this was really about at some time............
