I actually had a couple of letters published in the Daily Mail a long time ago. They used to run a For and Against letters page on a topical news subject. I had one published regarding an attempted hijack of a plane (this was long before 9/11) It was an Afghan man, who had his wife and children with him. I was arguing that he should be treated as an Asylum seeker rather than a criminal, as he was clearly desperate. I think they printed it just so that the right wing nutters could hurl abuse at it. I got weeks of abuse on the back of that letter, a badge of honour to provoke the ire of Daily Mail readers :)

I hate all red tops as every story is ****e and I can't stand Mail or Express as they are the reason Brexit happened

I prefer The Times or The Telegraph - but only for the crosswords.

I don't really buy papers in the week anymore. But I do buy the Observer on a Sunday.

Hardly mere. That's works out at £30mill each (to help you with the maths) and that's extortionate money for any player (granted the market has gone such a way that this is quite common) but for a full back even more so. To command that kind of money as a full back you would seriously have to be world class which walker and Rose aren't.

As was pointed out on our board. We haven't sold a player we wanted to keep to another English club since 2008. But, apparently, we're now going to sell both our fullbacks to the same English club <laugh>

You know if the right bid comes in Levy will be creaming his pants with joy and packing their suitcases.

If you mean an absolutely ridiculous bid, something you just can't say no to, maybe. after all, every player has his price. But I don't somehow think Utd will be prepared to pay what Levy would ask.

I'm not disputing that at all. I was just commenting on the use of the word mere to refer to the bid. To me neither are world class and shouldn't comment that kind of fee. Regardless though, if you don't want to sell you won't

When do you think the right bid will come in? Summer? Got to be if United want him, its for next season I'd say.

If Jose wants them, really wants them, the deal will be done. United have historically not flinched at transfer fees, irrespective of position on the pitch. Rio is a good example - remember the furore of them paying £30m or whatever it was for a defender at the time - in hindsight one of the best buys they ever made. Luke Shaw is another example - they paid £27m for him I think. I could see them offering up to £70m for the pair, with the long term benefit in mind - and I suspect that Levy would take it. Just my view.

We haven't done business with United since 2009 when they got Berbatov. A transfer that Fergie described as the worst experience in his time at United as far as getting a player goes. Its in his book called 'Leading'. Where they put a 30 mill bid in for Berbatov, so Darth Levy offered him to City for 27mill<rofl>. So in Fergie's own words 'Levy did him' in what was the worst transfer saga for him at the club, since Levy knew how desperate he was for Berba.

I see Modric is doing great guns at Chelsea, then again what do you expect when you offer more than the likes of Real Madrid, you get your man <rofl>

Its just another pearl of wishdom, take it with a pinch of black pepper.

I remember Rose on loan at Sunderland. Canny player, but not as good as that price suggests.

Didn't United recently pay 35m for a teenage leftback?

They're clearly not scared of chucking money. I reckon if they offer 35m for the pair Levy will **** himself in excitement.

15m for Walker, 20m for Rose.

In all fairness, we signed title winning full backs for 1m. Fullbacks that haven't conceded a goal in the Champions League yet.
