    So after making a cameo in yesterday's match and once again having Spurs fans ask to see more, Calcio Mercato are reporting that GKN may go on loan to Roma for the remainder of the season. Personally I feel that would be a terrible move - because it would take about twenty minutes for their fans to demand they send Fazio back so they can keep GKN.

    Because we haven't been linked with a teenage French striker for a few months, we're being linked with Calvin Tshilumba, who plays for second-tier club Leval - who should not be confused by with Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was playing for second-tier Chateauroux when we were linked with him in the summer (before he moved to Lyon) or Jean-Kevin Augustin, one of the numerous PSG prospects who rarely plays.

    Surprised we haven't been linked with Jay Rodriguez yet. Before he got injured , he was one of the Southampton players Poch was supposedly going to bring with him and with Janssen struggling and Jay back to scoring , to me it seems a natural fit. Maybe I should alert the hacks.

    Id put a 20 mI'll bid for Sturridge, maybe Jannsen on loan just because. Then go up to 30 million to unsettle him.

    As for who to get. I think we won't get anyone, it will be Son up front.

    Apparently the 2 Manchester clubs are fighting over Rose and Walker now.

    The idea of us actually keeping them is not mentioned. Just whether they go to Pep or Jose.

    I think the injury record has put off any potential suitors unless he becomes available for dirt cheap. Missed nearly two years of football I think and if Soton would want anything over £15m I'd say it's way too much of a risk, despite the fact he does look class when fit.

    The two greatest managers in the game today yet again looking to spend big on the best players in their positions to make their squads stronger, if only all managers followed in their footsteps... *** Not being sarcastic, not one little bit ***.

    Even if The Sun for once had an element of truth in their rumours, do they honestly think the two best full backs in the country are only worth a combined figured of £60m?! Levy would demand that sort of figure for each, especially as both just signed fresh deals a couple months back.

    It's as if we personally offended every single hack journalist in this country by finishing above their precious Liverpool and Man Utd on a regular basis...

    Walker AND Rose for £60m
    <laugh>
    That's the same as Benteke and Sissoko
    <laugh>
    Benteke = Rose
    <laugh>
    Sissoko = Walker
    <laugh>
    We got £32m for Berbatov NINE YEARS ago but we'd take £30m for one of these
    <laugh>
    We have not sold a SINGLE player that we WANTED to an ENGLISH team since 2008
    but now we'd sell 2 to the same team

    Here's some food for though for the various hacks, namely a list of notable transfers since Man Utd kidnapped Berbatov in 2008
    Man Utd: Welbeck and Silvestre to Arsenal
    Man City: Bellamy to Liverpool, Sturridge to Chelsea, Adebayor to Spurs
    Chelsea: Mata to Man Utd, Sturridge to Liverpool, Cech to Arsenal, Wright-Phillips and Ben Haim to City
    Liverpool: Sterling to Man City, Torres, Meireles and Benayoun to Chelsea, Keane to Spurs
    Arsenal: Adebayor, Toure, Nasri, Sagna and Clichy to Man City, Van Persie to Man Utd

    Shouldn't this mean that, realistically, what they should actually be doing is tripping over themselves to link their players with us? After all, based on this evidence, there's only one selling club in North London - and we aren't it.

  13. <laugh> And that we would sell them specifically to a PL rival in any case.

    Apart from all these factors (and the minor matter that both players are more than content at Spurs) I reckon the story might have legs!! <doh>

    Liverpool have apparently slapped a £20m price tag on Sakho, according to which Rose is worth around £80m on his own.

    They'd probably have a better chance of getting that if the manager hadn't made it abundantly clear that he's not picking him.
    He'll get loaned out, I'd have thought.

    The daily mirror are reporting that we're plotting a loan move for Athletico Madrid's Nicolas Gaitan. He only signed for them in the summer for €25m, but has only managed 5 games. Not sure whether he's been injured?
    Anyone know much more about him or whether he'd be a fit?

    He's had whole bunch of niggling injuries, as his recent record reads...
    - Benfica -
    January 2015: Hip injury, missed seven games
    December 2015: Knee injury, missed two games
    January 2016: Knee injury aggravated by being rushed back too soon, missed four games
    March 2016: Bruised hip, missed two games
    April 2016: Thigh strain, missed one game
    - Atletico -
    October 2016: Hip injury, missed two games

    It's the recurring hip problems that worry me, given Dembele had a similar problem a couple of years ago that took a long time to heal - as is Lamela's current issue where he just can't seem to get healed.

    I've seen him compared to Aguero quite a bit, and unlike so many "new [insert name here]" players he does seem to back that up as he's got the technique and ability to glide past defenders with the ball at his feet - something deserves credit considering how the average Primera Division defender is only too willing to take out the player rather than win the ball.

    The clauses suggested by the article do throw up a few questions, though: while a fee of between £10-15m is reasonable for all parties and unless they expect a sell-on clause of something like 40% and refuse to budge there's wiggle room, but loaning him back for the remainder of the Argentine season will be an obvious issue given the Copa Sudamerica runs from February-December while the Copa Libertadores runs from April-July, all of which begs the question about what River determine to be the end of their season.
