Good Morning Everyone, Leeds have progressed to the 4th round of the FA Cup, but at what expense? Jansson's yellow card rules him out of our next two fixtures, whilst Cooper's dead leg may also see him miss the crucial Derby game. Sure, as we all know Ayling can fill in at centre back; I'm pretty sure that O'Kane or Bridcutt could also do a job there, but it is not what we need against one of the divisions in form teams, that are snapping at our heels! Agree? Did anyone else cringe at Coopers performance last night or am I being overly critical? If Cooper is indeed an average Championship player, than why are we not scoring 3 or 4 a game? Thoughts? Do you now agree that we need another centre back in the transfer window as back up? I'm not talking a Jansoon. I would like an experienced and intelligent centre back at the end of his career that can read the game and slot in. Am I asking too much? Was anyone else impressed with Denton's performance last night? Come to think about it, was impressed with Coyle and Mowatt too.
Morning Elland and all. I think yes over critical at Cooper Not sure why we should score 3 or 4 a games if Cooper is average? Thought Denton was quite poor actually, did you see the Alan Brazil tweets about him? Former football turned pundit Alan Brazil had particularly harsh words for Leeds United defender Tyler Denton after his performance against Cambridge United. Leeds a disgrace! Denton couldn't tackle a special fish supper! They are second best everywhere!
Phil Hay @PhilHayYEP 9h9 hours ago Monk ruled out the possibility of him signing another centre-back in the transfer market before Derby. "No chance."

Morning all. Thoughts on last night. Bore of a game, kind of expected. Players who impressed, none really. What we learned. Silvestri is going backwards and will be gone in the summer. Antonnson is another striker we would like to see make it but won't. Was poor agains league two opposition. Monk dropped an absolute howler playing Jansson while resting eight others. Cannot understand his thinking on that one and I'm not looking forward to the derby game with a cobbled together defence. Doukara should be made luck at videos all day today of the big Lump Cambridge had as centre forward. Gave maximum effort for entire game and was a right bloody nuisance and scored a d cent goal
Morning Eire, was something wrong with Doukara's balance last night. Must have sen him fall over / barged off the ball 50 times last night
Morning ristac, Brazil's brain is pickled, he probably got confused. I think that is really harsh, perhaps as harsh as my comments on Cooper. The ironyyyyyy......
We all see games differently, I guess you're always compared to the guy you are replacing, Cooper replaced Bartley and that's not an easy task to do. Last season it was Cooper being replaced for cup games by Bamba and or Bellusci. I agree 100% with Eire yet others felt Antonsson was okay and Billy in another thread thought Grimes did well. I think yesterday showed us that we have a certain group of players who play well as a team, disrupt it too much and we look poor. Doukara should have stood out against Cambridge, he did but for the wrong reason. Jansson; wasn't his best first half either, this season squad isn't about a superstar or a top quality individual, it is about team effort and balance.
Morning ... last night had all the ingredients for an upset, a form team at home on a bumpy pitch in front of the cameras, totally committed to beating a big club ... the first half was difficult with Cambridge throwing everything at Leeds, not allowing them to settle ... they were also helped by the ref who who refused to caution any of their players even though their foul count rose Denton was left exposed by a very lazy Duke, and he was much better in the second half when he knew he could push up after Duke went off ... Brazil is a Scummer who can't resist a dig at Leeds, and his ignorance towards a 19-year old making only his second start says it all Monk started Pontus with a view to playing him for 60 minutes, and Bartley's previous concussion may well have influenced this decision ... the yellow was very soft ... that said, we always knew we would have our squad depth tested at some point, and that time is now ... the key thing is that Pontus needs to stop getting booked Mowatt and Grimes were excellent, and they took control in the second half ... I felt sorry for Antonsson, who worked hard all game but just seemed to be inches away all the time ... he will get better, for sure ... a solid result away against motivated opposition, all good and positive as for Derby spending £2.5m on a 32-year old Nugent, now that is desperation ... this is a fcuking hard division, and I honestly don't feel that Nugent is going to be the success he needs to be for that money ... he will be on at least £25k per week as well, so this is a huge gamble for Derby, who seem to have accepted they won't get Chris Martin back ... if they do get promoted, then they will have Martin and Nugent on their books, neither good enough for the Prem ... they will struggle to sell them, so this rolling of the dice is a risk .. if they stay in the Championship then they have bought a lemon who will cost them big wages ... strange deal this, but typical of the panic buys we see in January Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Morning all. Cant help feeling that no one was on their best for the first 50 minutes or so last night. Doukara has been playing well recently and has been a big part of the successful performances we have been giving in the last 10 or so games. Yes he had a bad night last night but the way Twitter was talking last night he should never pull the shirt on again, like a good moan do Leeds fans. Lets judge him on his next game and hope this was just an off night. I read somewhere that because of Jansons card last night he will be back to play the game he needs to qualify for a deal in the last game of January. If he had waited and picked it up in the Derby game then he would not make his 22 appearances until February. Was playing him last night a clever move by Monk to guarantee we can sign him this window? Last night was a thrown together team playing a team who were well up for it and our early performance showed that. Credit to Cambridge but even my mate who is a die hard Cambridge supporter told me we would win comfortably in the second half. Im not saying it was comfortable but we did show the extra class when it mattered and a win is a win. Onto another good draw in the next round which hopefully should be televised again because of the opposition.
Im not so sure about that bit Billy. Jansson has a very physical aspect to his game which will always attract yellows in the modern game but without that, he wouldnt likely be half the player. Perfect example, when he clattered Grealish in the Villa game. Some refs might have given a yellow for that one but the challenge meant the wimp Grealish didnt want anymore and was subbed. We may just have to accept losing Jansson for four or five games per season due to suspension but if good enough in the others, thatll do me
Morning Hemase, isn't Derby or wouldn't Derby have been game number 22? Morning WC, I wouldn't appeal as he is on 9 so looking at his past he has already gained a reputation. If he does and fails he could end up with a longer ban?
Morning all, some good points from all, but for my two peneth: I thought Grimes was garbage first half although he showed glimpses of class. 2nd Half besides losing the ball a couple of times he made Mowatt look good. Grimes ran it really so chuffed for him. Pontus is going to be a big loss especially with Cooper out now, and Cooper wasnt brilliant was he. Antonnson needs a strike partner and last night we maybe should have gone with 2 up top, maybe Duke was supposed to do that but spent most of his time on his arse out wide. Antonnson will score if given service and support and almost got a goal from nothing last night. cant criticise Monk as he hasnt got a big squad with quality, he has a small squad with potential quality. We almost got a bye into round 5 too, so not taking it for granted but we are in the 5th round. Maybe by then the prem teams left may field real teams. Amazing how League Cup now gets better prem squads than the FA Cup.
Cant appeal a yellow card, I didnt know that until Popey told me last night because no way was that a yellow
You may be right Ristac, I am only going by someone elses working out I must admit. Mowatt looked to me like he has lost a lot of weight. Has Monk been leaving him out to work on his fitness and is now ready to unleash him for the second half of the season. I thought he did ok last night, especially when used in the number 10 role. Grimes is just a squad player and will never be anything more. He is actually taking up space in the squad and wages we dont need to be spending. We have enough options in his position that he is not needed. As for Derby, I would play Ayling alongside Bartley and put Berardi back at left back if Taylor still out. I would play Coyle right back as I like the look of him and the few times Ive seen him play this season he has looked good.
What the fa cup means is our game with Forest is now postponed and likely forthcoming game with Bristol if we progress. A fixture build up we certainly do not need
