Thought it was strange that 2 people thought Schneiderlin was under-ratted. How many more rats did he need?
I know he's usually a pillock but dave merrington was slagging off spiderman a lot today? Yet you lot seem to think he was the best player! To be honest Im at the point were i'd trust fellow forum members over him though!
Listened to the 1st hour on the radio and Merrington was not very complimentary of Schneiderlin, yet you have him as our star man. Always difficult to gauge a Saints performance from the radio, but was he really that good or was he lacklustre as Merrington put it and thought that this performance would not be enough to get him ahead of Cork or Hammond for Saturday
Yes I did! I really just wanted to make a point about how awful Seabourne is! How hit and miss Guly is! And how ancient and out-of-date Butterfield is! Anyway rant over for today! Really hope we sign a CB soon!
Just goes to show - we need another centre back, two full backs and a 6ft+ centre forward to back up Lambo
I think Merrington always looks for the perfect performance, but a 4-1 win cannot of been that bad. Agree that like Arsenal our priority has to be a centre back
Out of the two centre backs you would have thought Martin was the more experienced one - This is not a case of 'Seaborne was always going to get picked on this season', it's a case of Seaborne just isn't good enough for this level.
Sounded like a great evening. Fell on the wrong day for me, got home at seven, ate dinner at 8 & have not moved much since. Bloody tired.
Agree with most of the ratings but I'd have given Lallana an 8 - he was outstanding when he came on. The defence looked very shaky. Martin was solid, Dickson was ok but Butterfield and Seaborne were awful!
Adkins interview after the game gave little away....pleased with the squad and professionalism. Highlighted that De Ridder was exciting on the ball, but has to work much harder on defending. Thought the Bart save was fantastic at an important time of the match and made a joke about the goalkeeper being the most important player. Also wished Alex Chamberlain all the very best and said he had a lot of time for the lad, which was much more pleasant in tone as opposed to the website article which announced his sale. He again mentioned that transfer activity is taking place, but has learned from mistakes in previous interviews to not say a deal is days away
I posted this on the match thread but I think it matches what was said on here:- Where were you all tonight, Kingsland outsinging the Northam, four home goals and a world class save and you missed it, shame on you. Well Bart had a good match but wasn't commanding enough in the first half, and fumbled one at the final whistle, but his crucial save at 2 - 1 made the difference, it broke Torquays heart, Butterfield good enough and made some vital interceptions, may be a bit slow but reads the game well, Dickson still looks a bit jaded and not the impact of DH, but adequate tonight, Sebo was a bit patchy, had a rough time with those big forwards, Martin slightly better but also knows he was in a game, learning fast. Chaplow 100% effort and a neat goal, did what he is best at, chasing and spoiling, De Ridder showed some lovely touches, has to learn a bit about supporting his full back, but took his goal well, Spider, not as strong as he has been in the past, if he wants his place back has to produce more, and as usual couldn't finish, Holmes, a very good shift with lots of crosses which the forwards failed to capitalise on, Guly, very patchy, a curates egg performance, I am convinced he is capable of much more, but lots of his passes looked poor because other players weren't on the same wavelength, Lambert, well that free kick goal will do wonders for his confidence, usual strong performance and showed some good awareness when dropping back into midfield, he is more than a centre forward and skippered the team to a win, Lallana came on and ran the show, a class above the rest, Hammond too, much more effective than Spider, he seemd to be everywhere during the time he was on the pitch, Forte another cameo performance, getting into good areas and of course his finish was the icing on the cake. Referee, yes had a good game even though he was flattened by a thunderbolt clearance, got up and carried on like a trojan, ran the game well and had very little call to reach for a card. Over 300 Torquay fans deserve our respect, they were supporting their side well and deserved the equaliser, but class showed in the end and we must be happy at the depth of the squad. I am happy with that.
Yes, I shall have a wee chuckle about it while listening to the report tomorrow on the BBC Sport website.
I was there, the main things I felt at the end were that Chaplow impressed me more than I expected, and that Guly had a shocker! Bart's performance was an odd one too - one fantastic save and some tidy work coupled with a few really panicky moments and fumbles.
