The Sunday Mirror are reporting that Barca are going to rival Really Mad dogs for Alli''s signature. Not surprising really if you believe the Star on Sunday who have an 'exclusive' claiming Poch is in line to replace Enrique at Barca at the end of the season.

With Ben Davies transfer to Chelsea almost a 'done deal', apart from the fact that Big Fat Sam is also interested as Palace are short on full backs, how long will it be before some clever hack puts 2 and 2 together and makes 7 and comes up with 'Levy plans to pay for new stadium on the profits of just one transfer window'?

Read on one of the news sites that the Chinese Premier League (CPL) are getting concerned that the amount of cash being thrown around to entice names is set to be reigned in by the government sports regulator. Having said that another article claims that they want to entice young English players to the league instead of those at the end of their careers - the names include - Harry Kane Dele Alli and Ross Barkley more join the dots journalism!

It's pathetic really. Dele's said very recently that he's at the perfect place for his career. He's still a very young lad who is learning alongside some very good players from a top manager. He's just signed a new long-term contract. Spurs have said that he's not for sale. We don't need the money now. If we were thinking of selling him, then he'll be worth far, far more next season or the season after that.

Of course we're going to sell him to Barcelona, Arsenal supporting Mirror journalist Steve Stammers, it's obvious really.

SSN's Sunday Supplement bods came to the consensus that, if we want to keep Alli, we need to win titles - an opinion backed up by the three consecutive summers where there was a mass exodus from Old Trafford due to their failure to win titles...

I'm enjoying the foolishness of these out of touch pundits these days. Firstly, the commentary team during the Chelsea match trying to contain their sadness at the spoiling of the Conte / Chelsea fantasy they had all been playing with themselves over. They were actually sounding forlorn towards the end of the match. Idiots.

Secondly, the fawning over Alli, as if it wasn't Spurs that beat Chelsea, it was Alli. They tried the same nonsense with Kane last season. The, "Where would they be without him?", and "They'll have to perform to match his ambition." rhetoric. As if these players are using Spurs as some kind of appendage, rather than actually being Spurs. Idiots.

Levy and Pochettino have built a very solid machine, an engine, and the players love being there, this hasn't always been the case of course, but you'd think that journalists would be the first to be able to spot the change in energy and perspective around the club. Bale had dreams of playing for Real Madrid before he joined Spurs. Now, however, these youngsters are building their own dream of playing for Spurs and being a success with this club.

More accurate an assessment that it would be more refreshing to hear the journalists come out with would be that, if we keep our current crop of players, and gently continue to improve as we have done, we will win titles. This fear of us losing our best players is becoming more irrelevant by the match.

3 weeks ago the same journalists were writing off our chances of coming in the top 5. One of their reasons was that Dele, Kane, Dier, Eriksen and Dembele were playing nowhere as well as last season. Dele was being slated for being a diver, havibg a suspect temperament, not being consistent yet 5 wins later he is too good for us.
I have long believed that certain parts of the media love to tap up our players and nothing I see has changed my opinion.

The same media that were tripping over themselves to label Kane a one-season wonder after half a dozen games last season, yet not a peep about Vardy reverting to the form he showed for his entire career barring last season.

  9. It has long been my observation that the media has ignored us, belittled us, written us off, under-estimated us, and made excuses for us when we have done well.

I have never understood why, other than to conclude that they see us as a genuine threat to 'Pool and United.

The "Bruma to Tottenham" rumours have been cranked up following Galatasary's signing of a winger who is being reported as the replacement for the Portuguese youngster. He certainly has the pace that we currently lack and is rumoured to be the fastest thing in football boots. Whether he would be able to function at PL level so as to be of use this season? I'm up for taking a chance on him but this season I can see him spending a lot of time on the bench a la N'Jie and N'Koudou. N'Bruma anyone?

  11. After seeing our back up striker again yesterday, a goalscoring CF should be priority. Not too late for Defoe, surely.......

Except for the part where Galatasaray haven't signed anyone this January, so far the only moves they've made is to release Hamit Altintop, Jem Karacan and Lucas Ontivero and cancel the loan of Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.

They're rumoured to have agreed a deal with Garry Rodrigues of PAOK. Could be crap, of course.

Liverpool are likely to double the wages of Adam Lallana to convince the midfielder to turn down an offer made by Tottenham Hotspur.

...which is news to Levy, given we haven't made an offer. Still, good to know that Liverpool are so worried about made up offers for their players that they're willing to pay Lallana £160k p/w to combat our blatant attempt at unsettling their player by not talking about him to the press and not making an offer for him and - having as much interest in signing him as we did six months ago, which is the last time the papers were running "Lallana to Spurs" stories.

Yes but by not saying anything, i.e. not saying that we are not interested in him, then we must be interested in him. Hack Logic.

He's talked about his good relationship with Pochettino in the past, so it's an obvious link for his agent to drop when negotiating.
Clearly not a coincidence, but it's also clear that we won't be making a move for him.
Bit too transparent, but if he gets more cash out of Liverpool, then I guess it's working.
