If it really is the case that Britain is coming out of everything and then starting again from scratch - then why Article 50 ? Why negotiate our exit at all ? Why not just tear up everything and say 'we're out'. The reason is that they are still trying to play poker, still believing that something will come out of those negotiations.

The UK is just following the rules. There must be a great chance that the position between the two sides is so huge that no agreement is possible. Of course the UK is as hopeful as possible, it just depends how much damage the EU is prepared to inflict and suffer itself, in order to prolong the agony of a flawed union.

My attitude is plan for the worst but hope for the best. I would not be surprised if the EU well and truly cocks up any negotiations by unreasonable demands.

You bring it on yourself SH and seem to incite.

All of the people you complain against have all got on very well thank you until you decided to antagonise... your choice....

Yo do nothing to make amends or improve relations

Read the posts. You are just selective, it is making you look rather silly.

SH ....most of the people you are falling out have been on this site and BBC606 before it for quite a few years..... Sure we disagree but we carry on.... and have done for years...

even now you are inviting discord...I neither look nor feel silly i can assure you....

Can you honestly look at your behaviour and say you have not chosen to wind people up and use abusive behaviour???

IMO you do everything to get a negative reaction. and then you seem to delight in it.. you have virtually no interest in these message boards for the sport... so why on earth are you here??

Nobody is being selective SH. On these boards you have managed to either insult, belittle or make fun of myself, Yorkie, Frenchie, Andy, Toby, Bolton's Boots, Leonardo and Canary Dave - I'm sure there are others but I can't remember (the list is out of the top of my head). Are we all Bolsheviks or Trotskyists ? There is actually quite a broad spread of political opinion on there. There has been the odd snipe back at you - we would need to be angels for there not to be. I have never seen any of us provoking each other in the way that you delight in doing. None of us are silly - we all have reasons for our ideas, and they are every bit as valid as your own are.

Keep your filthy language off these boards - they are 'open' boards which anyone can read. What sort of impression does this give out to anyone 'browsing' on our board ? Either start behaving like an adult or relieve us of your presence !!

I quite admire those that have kept going to try and put forward a different view to those of SH. What he doesn't seem to realize is that despite most of us having never met, we are friends drawn together by our common love. His understanding of how we operate is nil, and despite us having very different political views we get along, explore each others ideas, agree or not, but try to stay within the unwritten rules. For me he can take his ball and kick it against the playground wall, because I no longer will be joining in with his game.

For the record I do not approve of Toby's comments - but he does not spread his insults around to include nearly all other posters in the way that you do. In this post you managed 4 insulting words in only 9 words - which must be a record even for you. Kindly do us all a favour and go and play your pathetic games somewhere else.

You really should be worried about France. The rise in the far right Front National, collapse in tourism to France and the prospect of the country grinding to a halt in the summer when the promised national strikes hit.

Not a place to invest in, I'm out.

France again? Not a separate thread? Not answering the pertinent points put to you but taking whatever minor issue that suits your agenda and deflecting the attention away. Similar tactics are used by young earth creationists in their attempted defence of the indefensible. Whatever the merits of brexit, and I see precious few, I have debated enough on social media to recognise that you use the same tactics. They quote the bible/koran; you quote whatever journalistic article you suppose supports your outlook.

I have crossed some serious swords with Cologne, Leo and others... but I give them respect enough to answer their questions and counter their points of view with a direct and genuine polemic, not a sidestep and sideswipe as you do as a matter of course. Ugly and tiresome. Not good enough to win your argument and change minds, only to entrench further. Change your tactics and you might get somewhere.

Why not talk about France, Germany and the other EU countries on a Brexit thread? If some posters wish to revive their lost battle on the decision it is fair game to highlight the problems countries within the union are currently suffering. It was the majority view to reject the EU that most posters on here cannot respect or accept.

The advantage about concentrating the debate on Britain is that we can all contribute on that subject. I know that some on here have, or have had, an association with France - but the rest are left out of such a discussion. Similarly, there are even fewer on here who know anything about Germany - which is why I avoid German material whenever possible. Although there are individual countries in the EU. which have problems the EU. itself is not in any danger of breaking up - the Euro may collapse, there may be reforms, but the Union itself will survive those and become stronger. Despite anything which you have said it is noticeable that there is not one major party in Europe which now has exiting the Union as an option - even Le Pen has drawn back on this one, and the AfD in Germany has never had leaving the EU. as an option. I suggest that if you want to open a thread about France then you do so - I would not do the same for Germany because it would have very few contributors. I also believe that to know anything about a country you should be able to converse with a broad spread of their population, so, my proposal is that your thread is in........French !

I disagree. You cannot discuss in detail the positives and negatives of the UK's association with the rest of the EU without mentioning the alternative countries performance and policies. It may be uncomfortable for some but that is the nature of politics. Le Pen still advocates leaving the failing Euro group as well as the leading party in Holland so there is plenty of anti EU support currently in Europe.

I should add that I find it fits with the character you have portrayed on these boards that you imagine that you can continue with your posts as if nothing has happened, and anticipate answers to them. A short while back Toby insulted you, for which he has apologized - I expect the same from you towards another member of this board before dialogue can continue. Otherwise you may find that we all place you on ignore and then you can continue your dialogue with yourself.

My 'insults' was an experiment to gauge the reaction form people such as yourself. Yesterday one of the more aggressive lefty's continued to fire insults in my direction without the shock horror reaction it provoked when re-directed to one of the sanctimonious clique members. I was not at all surprised by the result.

You are not looking for debate but support for a narrow left leaning anti Brexit view. You have bullied other posters off of this site, grow up and debate sensibly.
