Yes you make a good point, that then becomes the dilemma. But *if* we had kept Mane and finished higher than whenever we do end up, that money probably makes itself back anyway. You never know, maybe the aim of these longer contracts is to go down a different route after all.

I'd say I'm the same, I can see why the club do things, but there's always that 'what if' feeling of keeping a really strong core and building around that rather than accept bids for them.

Apparently Liverpool want north of £20m for Sakho! They must be joking. If they thought he was that good he would play for them. At least that means we won't sign him.

The only chance we ever had of signing him was on loan. They paid about £20m for him didnt they?

When you see Jansen at Spurs and Sakho at Pool, costing up to 35 million and not playing, our transfers look a better deal. Ignore Dani fiasco

Seen him a few times for the Englad U21s and he certainly does look good but very raw.
He has had a few "personal disapline" issues so wouldn't have thought Saints would risk going for him

Why do Sky keep referring to RonKlot as "The Former Southampton Manager"? He is now the current Everton Manager, that is what he is and how he should be referred to.

It actually tickles me when Koeman has to be defined by being our ex-manager.

I watched a fair bit of Janssen before he moved to Spurs and I thought that he had a lot of talent, perhaps he just needs to play more regularly, although I know he is not the quickest, but nor was Pelle, perhaps we could loan him?!

As for Sakho, he fits into the huge African defenders that are strong but positionally terrible that seemed to be popular a couple of years ago. I would rather have Lucas or Sturridge on loan please :)!

Fabian Delph anyone...? Young, English, hungry to prove a point, slightly more attacking than Romeu and Hjogbjerg?

Not really young anymore; he's 27, and has never really established at any point that he is good at football. Now, one can argue that is circumstantial, because Villa could make anyone look bad, and minutes have been few and far between at City. But he wouldn't be anywhere near the top of my list...more likely than not he'd just add another average offering in midfield.

He was very good in his last year at Villa, if he could recapture that form he would be better than any of the other options we currently have

Ian whilst I am on the side of those who think Puel should be given time (he is, after all, hampered through no fault of his own, by our decision not to bolster our strikeforce - an allowance I also to a small extent give the Saints Board, as look at teams like West Ham, who seemingly chuck tens of millions away on strikers who are complete spent forces: it's clearly not easy to buy a quality striker - harder still to keep ones we have), I wanted to flag up, while I potentially have your attention in a thread, that I found your 2012 review of the huge yellow Bruder crane on amazon extremely useful, as I bought it for my son this Christmas.

A massive no from me. More interested in the celebrity side of football than the actual important bit
