Took a look lastnight and I was blown away by the masses but I can't believe more places didn't stay open late, Costa, Cafe Nero ect would've taken a fortune, they were queuing out the door at McDs and Nandos was rammed at 9pm. The Hull Pie shack should've been resurrected somewhere in the city centre aswell, huge opportunity missed.
I agree that prat want shagging with the wrong end of a pineapple (I pitched that saying from a tweet by someone last week). Credit to everyone that thought this one up, a really focal point carrying on the Made in Hull theme.
Yeh, that's one thing I think they missed a trick on, would have been ideal to have food/snack stalls or village with food representing different cultures, along the lines of the German food market, perhaps somewhere along side of Princes Quay.
I couldn't believe the absense of any street vendors, if you wanted a hot drink you'd be struggling to find somewhere to get one. I wouldn't want to to see too many though or you run the risk of making it all look abit tacky but a couple of places strategically dotted about to get a drink and a bite to eat would've been a good idea, a stall selling the official Hull 2017 merchandise would've certainly cashed in too.
I went last night and really enjoyed it! Could have heard a pin drop when they showed the trawler men! Only grumble was I thought they could have made the trail a circle so all the masses weren't walking (vey slowly) to the next avent! But certainly made me proud.
Went last night and was very impressed. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come over the City of Culture year!
Yeah it was strange to see no vendors! I also noticed that most of the restaurants ( maybe too posh ) I looked in weren't over busy!
Brilliant article for all you art buffs https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2017/jan/08/hull-city-of-culture-2017-art-review-observer
Yes that's right. Mind you the Talk sport presenters are just WUMS to get people phoning in. H and J are good though.
That's a good piece that. Damn it I'm gonna have to go back Dennis. May have to purchase a monocle and some hipster clothing ( along with customary beard ) This culture lark is fantastic.
