To be honest they don't go on about it as much despite losing 40 times or more in deaths and suffering far more destruction.
I went to Kingston school in the 70's & our football team was ****...no more name change crap please Castro lol.
It's all a bit on a knife edge I think though. There are people out there, Hull's own, who are gagging for it to fail. I went for another wander around it all last night, got to Zebedee's yard somewhere between 8.15 & 8.30 I think, and they'd already decided to finish the stadium noises and usher everyone out. A bit annoying as I was under the impression it was on until 9pm like everything else. Anyway, had to leave. Some fat fellow behind me as I turned to leave, a huge smile filling his face - "Typical Hull!" he bellowed, with a sarcastic laugh. That'll be what he ultimately chooses to take out of it, it made his day. Yes, it was annoying, but he was taking glee in it. There's a lot of people like that here. Unfortunately.
I can vouch for that, my school team was on the wrong end of a few hidings from Kingston in the 60's .... Hessle were pretty good too as I recall.
The only thing that will make the City of Culture fail will be 10% of the local population and lets face it they have been blown away already . We are on a roll and its going to be a great year...
It chaos in Hull tonight, the police are advising people to not drive to the city centre as all car parks are full.
That brilliant, I am sure they will enjoy it. I went last night, took the bus from Pock so I could have 2 or 3 pints in town after doing the tour, really enjoyed it.
It's worth a second look for sure, I don't think anyone thought it would draw the crowds it has, great to see.
