Think I look at that list and have some players that have proven nothing....others have been bargains....

lucky that certin press types actually can be dealt with like that. Bit harder in london to do it.

but then again Everton don't have a media frenzied TV channel and website to feed. LFc made pacheco, then suso then sterling into media whores long before they were ready to feed the website for news. every other day it was articles about them. I think LFC needed to learn a very hard lesson about it..

And they are still doing the same with woodburn despite klopp telling all to shut up. The tv and website needs videos so you get fowler being asked about woodbrun etc etc.

    as in Matip or ramsey?

In pure money terms ibrahminovic is paying for himself in shirts but his goals and ethic is dragging utd out of the mire far more than mourinho is.

Leicester could monetise the 3 lads o nthat list for 60-70mil easy.

ramsey yes is injury prone but i wante dot try keep the money under 7 mil so stuck him in.

Holgate is having his feet kept firmly on the ground. He is often spotted playing 5 a side with his mates in Doncaster in midweek leagues

Not sure Ramsay was a bargain, 5m back in 2009 was a pretty big outlay for a club especially for a youth player.

I would try to fit in:

    Affelay (free)
    Fuchs (free)
Jermain Defoe (for the hapless Altidore)

    thats nice :)

shelvey was often spotted kicking about i nthe park and all.

its far better than being spotted with some pipe or other in a boozy house party... but its down to how the works not really down to anyting else isn't it?

so far to me he looks a decent kid. needs that experience next.

fuchs was a real bargain for a international LB with a great free and corner on him.

defoe is a good shout also.

I'd prob drop vardy out actually and not have too many leicester one hit wonder si nthere. defoe is a good shout.

i left coutinho out at 9mil or something to keep the fee down.

I've already said he's looked good when he's played. I've also said its not worth getting carried away after 5 games.

People smashing it in youth squads and failing in the big leagues happens all over the show even if they have a promising first 5 games. For whatever reason loads of players fail - see pacheco, Ibe so far, jerome sinclair, would scott sinclair count?, Macheda, flanagan etc etc

The other thing is what you determine as success, if he ends up playing for teams in the lower half of premier league and he's sold for 10, is that crowned as success. Obviously he's made it in life and Everton get a good wedge but the conversation we are having is that he will be at best a world class centre back and at worse a Jags who has been a decent premier league defender.

At the club they have him as the biggest talent outside of the first team. Bobby M, a man not famed for spotting defensive talent (placed massive faith in Stones after Moyes left him out of the squad for six months) picked him up after he was told he wouldn't be taken to United and when he was en-route to Bournemouth. He has been nurtured in the 23's and thrown into the squad at the start of the season. A change from a planned back three has seen him miss out and his preferred spot at RB is currently being filled by Coleman....

i see, i didn't realise he was a RB. Only ever seen him played at CB. Makes sense why he isn't starting though as Colemans a decen rb. It's sad to still see Jags starting as he's just not the player he used to be . You guys like to keep CBs on until they are retired though (Stubbsy and Unsworth!)

Like Stones he started at RB but has played RB and CB for Barnsley and Everton. Bowning is a similar player for us so he will be pushed at RBand CB by another good talent coming through.

I don't want to compare him to Stones, he is a very special talent. But he has more pace and is slightly better defensively at his current level of experience than Stones was - if he can reach that level.....would be great.

I have always liked Defoe not understood why the big guns have avoided him tbh..

I thought the same of Le Tissier back in the day at Southampton

dunno. le tiss was probably seen as just that bit lazy and would prob just implode the moment he moved.

defoe is odd he played then didn't play as spurs as things went and i think it might just be he is 5'7" and a lot of clubs oh hmmmm hang on here... i'd rather peter crouch.

the thing about defoe is he's never had a 20 league goal season and only 2 years in the 20s in all comps... so while he's good he's not been consistent for whatever reason.

He did well enough at tottenham, moved to portsmouth and then straight back to spurs.... so maybe another reason is spurs have a long tradition of taking the arm off clubs as wel las the cheques so the potential fee for him probably put clubs off.

Yeh i can see what you mean tbh...
My Le Tiss memory is probably clouded by the moments of brilliance tbh Thinking about it more he was pleased at his lifelong club a big fish in a small pond (back then)

they are some really great goals and one year he just about single handedly kept them up... mid you that was every year but one year it was particularly so.

but that wasn't even his best time for southampton. I think he got 25 league goals one season and that probably got him his real fame and england caps.

As i recall it was baout the time when ginola started his antics at spurs that it was dead in fashion to be utterly brilliant and le tiss relly dug Southampton out of a hole.

edit: i just looked at his wiki page. he actually played for southamton 16 years and got 20 league goals 3 times and close to it a few more times. Actually he probably was really under rated then 541 games 209 goals.

comapred that to wayne rooney (who i pick deliberately not to snipe at but as he's a long serving player but with similar record

Rooney got 619 games and 265 goals total... and rooney only ever got 20+ goals in league twice. rooney probably has the more consistent record over time but it is interesting and sort of shows the contrast in minds.

Le tiss might have been too lazy and managers might have been right about him but we will never know. a power player like rooney (who btw always looks technical utterly brilliant in warm ups at anfield :) ) is preferred in this country to a flair player like le tiss.... and really its the same now.

Delle alli is a fine athletic player with good technique but he's no striker and could be a much much better player for club and country if he was developed as a midfielder but he won't be. he will be a striker r no 10 cos he can score a few...

It will be a LONG time before another paul schole emerges for england IMO.

FA and England are literally a bad joke. It is not new you can go right back to the FA not ever trying Brian Clough (i was not a big fan of cloughie) but even i can see he should have been given a chance - same for Harry Redknapp, both earnt that right imho. The only reason they were not given shot was cause they werent yes men.
Until FA totally overhauled and we stop chasing other countries styles we will never win anything.
Starts at grass roots the club i goto watch everyweek is same old tired thing, one skill bit of passing - game for thirty mins in which only 3/4 bigger children get a touch.

Smaller sided games - get everyone on the ball, smaller ball like when we used to have to use cans cause we couldnt afford a ball.
it will develop them younger and then see where their talent gets them.
Play systems that suit the team not adopting whatever is current flavour of the month.

In Beckham we had one of the most reliable crossers of the ball ever, did we adopt a more direct approach, no - we decided we had the golden generation :steam::steam:
