As much as I want us to win today, reality is we have 2 key players out, Silva's only been here a couple of days, it'll be a chance for him to see what's what on the actual field, as opposed to previous games videos, so I'm not going to be distraught if we lose. We'll see an improvement for the Man U game, although again, I accept its a getting a grip on the assets at his disposal and by the time we play next Saturday, we'll have a much better idea of what he's made of. I'm not even going to be bothered if he plays Marshal today. Id see it as a *ok its a free hit, lets have a proper look at you* then if he doesn't perform, again, I'd expect to see Jak for midweek, then for the weekend. In a lot of ways, playing Swansea today is kinda ideal, more so than a much lower league team.
its more about him getting a tune out of the players that we have already. and with his pedigree, I cant see Swans getting anything.
Will be interesting to see formation. A lot of people (me included) had been urging MP to play 3-5-2 for ages before he finally did against Palace, since when big improvement. Doesn't look like Marco has played it in the past, from the little I've read, and seems to favour 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1?. So we might be back to that. And of course today he will struggle to find 3 fit centre backs anyway!
He's not going to go 3-5-2 when he's only got one proper centre back fit and you've got half the team playing out of position. Not a chance.
Didn't Maguire take a bit of a knock 2nd half v. WBrom? I seem to remember him flexing his leg a bit. Davies could just be a bit knackered.
Just shows how ridiculous our squad is- we can argue the toss over the relative merits of no less than 4 keepers, a whole bunch of central midfielders, yet with a couple of injuries the rest of the squad could just about fit in a taxi. I like the sound of Silva, but that is why we're going down- never mind formations, tactics and motivation- he, like Phelan before him, just doesn't have the options, and the options he does have (Diomande, Maloney) barely got a game in the Championship and now we are relying on them to be our saviours in the Premier League. Good job the bottom half of the league is so ****, or we would be down already
It's a bugger of a tie for both teams. Long trip for them and nothing to draw a crowd in. However, a replay would be a pain for both of us so hopefully we'll see both teams going for it. Confident that home advantage will give us the edge.
he has to bring some players in, I think that he is gonna use these 2 cup games as a practice just to see where we are. so. dont expect too much. hmm then again, I dont think he will expect anything other than a win
What OLM said. I still expect a surprise return to fitness for one of them. Is Alex Bruce still injured?
just cos MP didnt play Maloney and a few others, doesnt mean that Silva doesnt see something in them to start.
I assume Clucas can play there... I really hope he doesnt move Jake back there. Abel back. Phelan could have cost us putting him on the naughty step. No ones out that long with a groin injury.
