If someone thinks this should be in the Jose Thread then do the magic. Just watched Man City thrash West Spam and one comment about Yaya Toure stuck out. He is now playing again and all is forgiven apparently. Jose or agent haven't done anything like Toure and agent did to annoy Citeh. So there's hope it will all be smoothed over. Maybe?

 

Yeah that does seem to happen every year. You can understand it with, say, South Americans but Serbia gets a bit chilly in winter too (-8c predicted tomorrow) so you'd think he'd be used to the cold.

 

Yaya has five months left on his contract. The better he plays now, the more tea china will give him.

Seems to be some stories that Bojan at Stoke could leave - I'd take him.

 

If he stays, and if he puts in some strong performances, I would sincerely hope all would be forgiven. But I think he'll go.

 

Lifted the following from Leitch's interview with Les Reed. I think there is a lot of sense there: be ready if an opportunity arises, but don't change all your plans and panic. I've been saying this for a while....buying a player can be an expensive mistake to make and we have always been a side to do all the due diligence. He mentions (in the same article) that teams are seeking to offload players and Saints don't want to buy someone else's mistakes. I'm with him in this...any team can have a middling season (which is what we are probably in for)....why make an expensive mistake that you pay for over several years? Such a purchase could reduce our ability to get a player we really want in the summer. At least if we buy a player now, we can be assured that he is one the club really wanted.

If we can do that in January we are open minded to it. If we can’t we are not just going to throw money at something because we lost three games and feel we need to be seen to doing something.
You won’t see us on Sky Sports saying we are bidding for every player around the country and then land nobody.

If we do anything we will do our business quietly, under the radar, as we did with Charlie (Austin) last year. That’s our method, that’s our model, it hasn’t changed and it’s not going to change.

 

And I think he's absolutely right to take that approach. We would have been monitoring players and maybe even talking to clubs. Some of those would have been checking availability for he summer and we may go and ask those clubs about a January deal, which he may lead to an increased price. It's the Board's job to weigh up the value of the early purchase. As fans we'd all like to see the new body come in.

 

If Saints don't want to buy other teams mistakes, why did we buy Osvaldo?
