    Get an irish passport and fly from Dublin were there is clearance,if refused you can have a nice weekend in Dublin which beats getting sent back from the States so a win win imho

    A friend of mine (ahem!) did, plus quite a bit of other pretty minor skullduggery including a caution for burglary (not someone's house, honest), but the ESTA came through almost immediately. It was all well over 10 years ago though so that might be why; Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and all that.

    No need to fess up though, just apply for the ESTA online, and if you get knocked back it'll cost you what, £40?

    Not in Ireland,the customs are in Dublin or Shannon so if you get knocked back least you are still in Ireland
