If fit Coutinho might get a run out just to get him match sharp again for the Utd game. This one and 45 mins against the Saints and he should be ready for the Prem again.

I've noticed you buy most of your players from Southampton. You do realise that if you win anything they will claim the credit like West Ham did with the World Cup. They're a bit like that over there.

Don't forget you people, you do have a "change my vote" button above so it isn't too late to put the right result in...................

Fears have come to fruition. Coutinho and Matip are not fit enough for Plymouth Argyle this weekend, which suggests they most likely won't be fit for Southampton and if they play against utd they will be miles off match fitness. Sturridge and Milner likely to be out a bit longer too.

    Karius is in.
I'd imagine TAA will start RB.
Gomez may be starting? Partner Klavan?
    Moreno for Milner.
    Can. Stewart. Lucas?
    Ejaria. Origi. Firm?

Firm may be rested for Southampton and we may see Coutinho as a sub in that game? I hope he's fit for Utd.

matip said he was Close to training and was looking at utd game.

klopp said coutinho not this weeked so thats all we know there

sturridge hasn't bothered to rouse himself form his death bed.. no train no play. jesus christ that lad is a right fragile old dear isn't he.

Milner was small issue not this weekend which suggests its not all that bad.

Predicted line up therefore will have a back 5 of

    Karius
    TAA Gomez Lucas Moreno

thats what we can at least say at this point.

yes you were. Lucas will play CB.

I expect you are right on the stewart in cm thing but i'd expect ejaria upfront again.

I will be looking for grujic in the training pics. i have not seen sight of him in several weeks... and even astro forgot about his chosen one.

    Klopp having a laugh

Klopp: "We got a point but it felt like a defeat. I was glad that Pep then had his press conference and nobody spoke about mine!"

the guy is just very funny.

he wears his heart on his sleeve.

his interviews / pressers crack me up . It is so refreshing but as a bonus he talks sense as well as being appealing.

Just a slight contrast to BR <whistle>

rogers was so fake it was cringeworthy.

Klopp you know when he's annoyed you know when he's in the moment but he always says sorry after :bandit:

I think being able to laugh at yourself certainly helps.

Modern hacks consider themselves stars thats whey the snide little **** that was interviewing guardiola got the total hump when pep wasn't all sweetness and was actually really rude and baiting. Pep should have said you've a job to go but speak like that to me and you are out permanently to him and walked off.

the hack ok pep was being a bit of an awkward interview and it start off as standard questions that are just the usual guff but the hack was giving it back and for me thats just unprofessional. IMO that journo needs to be told by the city press office not to expect an interview for a month now. bit awkward given the crew it was but they aint stars none of us want to know their names do we?

Brilliant Gomez is back to fitness. Can't wait for him to get bit more game time. Hopefully Klopp sees him as a CB not a full back.

    Ease him back in gently

Liverpool v Plymouth: Argyle legend Tommy Tynan recalls unusual Anfield trial

Tommy Tynan began his career at Liverpool after entering a newspaper competition to get a trial
If you get into a taxi in Plymouth and the voice behind the wheel has a Scouse accent, the chances are you could be in the presence of greatness.

Tommy Tynan, now transporting people around the streets of his adopted home city, is one of Plymouth Argyle's most revered strikers.

Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie between Argyle and Liverpool at Anfield will be something special for Tynan. He began his career with the Reds in the early 1970's after entering a local newspaper competition to get a trial.

"You had to collect 20 tokens, and once you had them you sent them off to the Liverpool Echo," Tynan, now 61, told BBC Sport.

"They came around different areas in Liverpool, took trials and it was whittled down to 22 lads who went to Melwood.

"(Youth development officer) Tom Saunders watched me in the trial game and they had some five-a-side games, we won 5-0 and I scored all five goals.

"The next night, he sent his assistant around to the house and they asked me to come and train. (Manager) Bill Shankly signed me six months later and I played in the same youth team as Phil Thompson, David Fairclough and Jimmy Case."

While Thompson et al went on to form the backbone of the Liverpool side that dominated England and Europe for almost two decades, Tynan failed to make the grade at Anfield and left without playing a first-team game.

    The route to Plymouth
    upload_2017-1-6_12-47-36.gif
Plymouth reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 1984 but lost 1-0 to Watford at Villa Park
The goalscoring ability he showed during his trial at Liverpool never left him. His goals helped Newport County to the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1981, scoring twice in a first-leg 2-2 draw at East German side Carl Zeiss Jena before losing the home leg 1-0.

His goals, coupled with Newport's need to sell players to stay afloat, caught the eye of then-Plymouth boss Bobby Moncur in 1983.

Tynan continued: "He always liked me. Every time I played against Plymouth I'd always score. I think we played four times and I scored six goals, so he was quite a fan.

"When I first came down it didn't work out too well to begin with. I went 20 games and only scored two goals, but by the end of the season I ended up getting 22, which wasn't a bad return."

Tynan's goal return is the third-best in Plymouth's history - 145 from 310 games over two spells.

His first season at third-tier Argyle coincided with the club making the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1984, when they lost to Watford, having beaten top-flight West Bromwich Albion and Derby County along the way.

"It was a decent run and we were unlucky to get beaten in the semi-final," Tynan said.

"The fans were brilliant, and it helped our league form as well. It was the underdog against everyone else and we were beating teams - it was absolutely brilliant."

    Tynan's football journey
    • Liverpool (1971-76)
    • Swansea City (1975, loan)
    • Sheffield Wednesday (1976-78)
    • Lincoln City (1978)
    • Newport County (1978-83)
    • Plymouth Argyle (1983-85)
    • Rotherham United (1985-86)
    • Plymouth Argyle (1986, loan)
    • Plymouth Argyle (1986-1990)
    • Torquay United (1990-91)
    • Doncaster Rovers (1991-92)
'If Argyle play well, it can happen'

Highlights: Newport County 0-1 Plymouth Argyle (aet)
Never in Tynan's time as a player or watcher has his hometown side and the club in his adopted city ever met - until now.

"I wish it would have happened while I was playing for Plymouth," he said. "1962 was the last time it happened, so it's very unique.

"In some ways you've got to be very envious. It's a great atmosphere at Anfield. I am a little bit envious because I wish it could be me."

Sign up for the 2017 FA People's Cup and take your chance to win tickets to the FA Cup final in May and achieve national five-a-side glory.

Up to 9,000 Plymouth fans are expected to travel to Liverpool for Sunday's tie and Tynan believes he will not be the only observer with split loyalties.

"There are a lot of Scousers living in Plymouth," said Tynan. "They call us the Scouse greens, we support Liverpool but watch Argyle.

"A few weeks ago there was a function on and Jimmy Case and Terry McDermott were there along with 200 Liverpool supporters, but they were all Argyle supporters as well, so this game has created a lot of atmosphere within the town."

So how might Argyle, second in League Two, fare against the five-time European champions?

"Liverpool might play a weakened side, but on the day you just don't know," said Tynan. "If they don't play as well as they can, and Argyle play well, it can happen.

Tynan will be in the stands to witness the first meeting between the two clubs in 57 years - one wonders what Argyle fans would give to have him in his pomp leading the line on his former home turf?

great story and also a lesson to us all.

I know it was the times that it was and all that and today a long lad who got 5 years as a pro at anfield should be set up for life on 5-10k per week or something but.... the guy here is driving a taxi.

they get money too easy too quickly these days and piss it against a wall and end up badly off IMO.

I don't know what to think about this, tbh.
If he has an ok game (doesn't **** up), will JK be tempted to put him back into the Prem, because he wants him to be number 1?
    I just don't think he's ready yet.
On the other hand, I do hope that with time he can develop into the type of keeper we need in the future, so I don't want him to make a mess of it and set his progress back any further.

    Perhaps we'll play Manninger. <whistle>
