Souness is a decent pundit, I think he is pretty fair. Both teams are evenly matched IMO. Both matches could have gone either way. 3 points each is better than 2 draws and 2 points each.
Was that souness is a decent pundit? Idiot is trying to character assassinate luiz for the first goal when 1. it was daves mans 2. luiz and dave were playing alli and kane offside (successfully) but moses didn't get the memo. Anyway, well played spud boys. It was a cagey match and 2 moments of magic from eriksen and alli decided it. Was always going to be a tactical battle with Dembele and Wanyama vs Kante and Matic. Whilst we weren't to bad defensive and you didn't really have that many chances, you controlled the game pretty well and had us defensively all night and finished your chances clinically. Most disappointingly we didn't even have a proper go when we were 2-0 down, a lot of it was down to good energy and tactics from poch to keep pressing us at the back.
yeah, he had a very solid game. The few times hazard turned past him your back 3 snuffed him out well. He won a lot of the 2nd and 1st balls with a key moment getting back into stop costa from a few loose passes from your defenders
We were excellent tonight, simply excellent. Chelsea made all the attacking subs and we continued to completely shut them down. Can't hype one victory too much but that really was a sweet one.
Souness aside, over both matches there has been nothing between the teams. 3 points each is fair imo.
Measured, classy comments from Conte in his post-match interview. He makes it that little bit harder to hate that mob.
Chelsea have Liverpool and Leicester away and Arsenal at home in their next 4 games. Be nice if Leicester decided to turn up for that one.
One of the differences is that we have players at the back that are comfortable in their positions and can play. Chelsea's players can play but Moses has a lot to learn about being a defender and Azpilucueta isn't a central defender as yet, whereas, Dier, Vertonghen and Alderweireld are extremely comfortable and Rose's conversion to full back is complete. I'd love to know if Spurs identified Moses/Azpilucueta as the weak link in their back line? They just lost Dele completely.
We have struggled with the balls into the back of dave and moses. On the otherside you can get in behind cahill and alonso who arent comfortable 1 on 1 (hence matic coming over). What makes the 3-4-3 good for you guys is that you have the back 7 should i say in Alderweireld, Vertogen, Dier, Walker, Rose who are really comfortable on the ball and well drilled in their positions. The key thing is that Wanyama and Dembele are comfortable to have the ball played it and can turn even when under pressure. You are very good at recycling it and you see that often. What they lack in though is moving it quick and being creative (although dembele can run with it). On our side of things we have dave whos a bit iffy, Cahill who is totally unconfortable, Alonso who is soso, Kante who doesnt like to be under pressure and Matic who is soso. The only people who are comfortable are truly comfortable are moses and luiz. In big games like these alongside the pressing game meant you could dominate the ball. In games against ugly defensive allardyce and pulis it isn't so much a strength as you guys will naturally control the game anyway.
I honestly thought Dier was gong to bury him. Never been so glad to see the big man laugh something off.
