    Afternoon all

Back from a day in Central London where everything seemed very quiet. It was noticeable that there were fewer people about than usual...walked the length of Piccadilly without being bumped into by a tourist or someone on their phone.

It is strange that at one time any of their tennis players could strut the world stage with confidence, but for some years they have been going back to basics to try and bring some new players through

I would not bet against them in the Rugby World Cup though as NZ always seem to blow it

I knew the racist card would eventually appear...no doubt you also believe that the banking crisis, tuition fees and changes to EMA are the root causes for these poor misguided youths to go on a spree of wanton vandalism and theft. Perhaps if the views of the PC brigade has not been listened to and a sense of self responsibility and ownership of actions had been retained in our society, then these people would have grown up with a greater sense of responsibility to their fellow citizens.
Of course throwing people out of planes is an over reaction and I am sure the Army would not them on the front-line, but why not send them out to Afghan to clean the bogs and peel spuds or have them work full time in a care home and then return to prison each night? Get them to do that for 3 years and they will think again - instead they will get 12 months in a soft prison.
As Norway wrote, The Nest has been the home of honest debate and argument, just like your local pub for a few years now - if you feel so strongly about the views expressed, then argue back, but stop making sly comments about white hoods and hanging parties...

I like where you are coming from at no time did we mention the race card. If these so called misunterstood deprived individuals want to be treated like human beings, they have to first of all act like one!

It was intended to be a bigotry card not specifically racist - when you get a lynching mob - which is what the Nest appeared to be when I came on earlier I think it was an accepted response to liken it to other lynching mobs and the best known of these just happened to be racist - you were all competing to deal out extreme punishments without argument or trial - since then I belive there have at least been more reasoned discussion - which is what this forum uysually produces. Oh and try not in your arguments to tell another person what he or she MAY believe - as it happens your guess is wrong on all counts and if you take the trouble to read what I have written you will see Inot only unconditionally condemn the rioters but also offer no excuses for them - my problem is the suggested punishments. Now the lesser arguments are coming in - get them to peel spuds - OK perhaps that is the solution.

Sorry about using the term hanging parties when I should have used pushing them out of plane parties to keep it accurate <doh>
