But but we had a couple of derbies to play In and Tuesday night matches.

Anyway I'd tell that to Rafa

Yeah, we did; again, nobody was moaning that we had to play against fellow Yorkshire teams, which was the point.

And Newcastle's fans should be annoyed at losing to Blackburn today, their squad is way better than Blackburn's, it was a poor performance.

Newcastles fans aren't annoyed that their team wasn't good enough to win, they're annoyed that Blackburn parked the bus and didn't let them win <laugh>

To be honest I have no idea what our attendances are, I thought they were averaging around 19/20k

With away fans we should have at least 24,500.

Our declared average is about 20k, but in reality it's nearer 17k, our lowest previous PL average was just over 23.5k, we've lost 5-6k.

The fixtures on Boxing Day and the following one saw us attract a total of 42,000 against attractive opposition who sold out their allocations (allegedly as I don't think there were 20,000 there against Everton. ). Sheffield Utd in Division 3 got 46,000 against Oldham and Northampton who won't have exactly been backed by travelling hordes.
One awful possibility could see Leeds and Wednesday featuring in the play-off final guaranteeing on of the bastard scale place in the PL. Though in a twisted way I wouldn't mind Leeds going up as I feel it could end up in them doing even worse than we are in front of their deluded fans.
There are quite a few clubs in the Championship the PL and its clubs wouldn't mind replacing ourselves to be honest. No empty seats, larger, more vociferous away followings supporting their team, not rubber necking and there to gaze in admiration on the stars of the opposition.
Saturday showed this, a small number of fans but they made more noise than the larger followings to the glamour club games. Funnily enough a Wednesday fan in my local says the same about Wednesday. They get good away followings including a lot of old school fans who no longer go to home games. But if they go up they will find it harder to get tickers as corporates and others will get a lot of them and it will dilute the atmosphere. He bemoans the lack of atmosphere, noting as some of us older ones have, how the enclosed Kop generates less atmosphere than it did as an open end.
Football as us older ones knew it is disappearing. What the answer is **** knows.

If memory serves me well, it was the dire football and a lack of ambition in not attacking; negative substitutions and losing games, setting up for a draw at home and away. Folk know they might see defeats, but can stomach that if we at least give it a go. Bruce was ****e at that. But you know that.

69 goals scored and 24 wins, god i wish we were so negative as that now.
Dont recall us setting up for a draw at home. When was that?

It certainly was much better back in the day, rather than the sanitized atmosphere there seems to be around these days. Whether safe standing will help to bring back a better atmosphere remains to be seen, but it can't be any worse that it is at the moment.

I'm sure we could match Sheff U's gates with their low prices and position at the top of the table, if we had similar prices and a winning team.
The point of my original post was that we will probably be playing most of these clubs next season ....and getting smaller gates.

I put it to you that an ageing Don Robinson in his twilight years in his Scarborough retirement home or Adam Pearson in his lunch hour, could drum up 5,0000 extra fans in five minutes flat.
I further put it to you that all talk of global marketing of 'Hull Tigers' has been revealed to be some sort of adolescent fantasy, given that the marketing acumen of the current owners seem baffled at how stop the haemorraging of core customers.
Where are the journalists who are challenging them on this?

That was the point I was making, the difference in the way things are being done at Sheffield U compared to here. Though you can compare the way things are done at virtually any other club and find them better than the way things are done at City. Though I must say I am disappointed at the amount of hardcore support in Hull. Myself and TubbyLard and others used to compare the support other clubs brought here in the early 70s with our support and say if we only had some success we would be like Sunderland, Boro, The Fowls, The Blunts etc. Leaving aside the cuts in charge, the reasons for lack of support have been pretty dire. The novelty of the PL has worn off (presumably if we stayed for a few decades like some other clubs our support would drop to zero), we are a poor area, so are lots of other places. Take away the people who don't live in Hull and the attendance figures would be really dire.

As for Don Robinson, he was a showman, and a good salesman, admittedly. But he was a conman, operating on the borders of legality and good at getting other people to do things for him for next to nothing.Have had experience of his nefarious ways since the mid 1960s. Not a bloke to get on the wrong side of, especially face to face in his younger days. He might do well if he had the Allams' money, but he didn't have the money required in the days he was here never mind now. AP would be great to have in charge again but he needs somebody else's money.

As for Hull Tigers, don't know why you are telling me that. I was against it from the start, unlike some who took some time to cotton on to what a dumb idea it was. You would be better off directing your remarks to a lot of people from Hull who said they didn't care what the club was called, it wouldn't matter to them. There are a few of them on the comments section in the HDM today INFORMINGBEVERYONE City's problems are down to 500 fans, or the fault of CTWD, HCST, in fact anyone but the Allams whose idea of a name change being turned down has cost us a fortune in sponsorship and marketing and lead to our money troubles. The same idiots claim the Allams have cleared the debts.

Yes even on this board we have them....needy ****s who act as shills for the Allams because they relish the outrage and the attention it provokes .Most have wisely melted away and wised up. Still one or two bravehearts though...

Not got the time or inclination to play your selective memory games. Do you recall him taking off attackers and replacing with defenders, then losing the game. How about week in week out perseverance with Huddlestone that almosr list us the play-offs. I don't expect or wish an answer - the board spoke of little else at the time.

You wouldnt wish an answer as youre completely wrong. We lost once at home all season.
Also Hudd came good in the run up to the play offs. So your memory is selective not mine. <ok>

How many times did we draw when we should have won?
The damage from Hudd and Bruce (plus his strange selections, tactics and bizarre subs) came earlier; we should have been auto for sure. But you know that.

Yes we did draw some home games, but we didnt set up for a draw at home which is what you put. I clearly recall Brighton and Sheff W parking the bus aganst us and us drawing.
The objective was promotion. It was achieved.
Im sure Ncastle want to win the league but they wont cry too many tears if they go up second or through the play offs.

Early, inexplicable substitutions that destroyed any attack and sat back to defend and failing to do so - there was frequent outcry on here. We came very close to not being promoted and his negativity was the cause. It was Bruce, every pundit and most of us who all agreed we had by far the best squad of players. But you know that.
