    Last season, we saw Tiote come in and play far better than anyone expected. Barton excelled himself far more than in the previous seasons with us. Ben Arfa looked a world-beater in the few games he played. And Ferguson looked awesome towards the end of the season.

    So, who will defy the expectation this season?

    Personally, I think Cabaye will be awesome, but that is expected as he is a full international, and has been signed with a reputation.

    Sammy may well do it, but he may not get as many chances as necessary for him to settle into the team, or to defy expectation after his impressive pre-season.

    Marveaux is coming into the team with a bit of a reputation from Rennes, although he may not be a first-choice, so will have to prove himself off the bench or when injuries and suspensions hit, as they ineviatbly will.

    It may also be some of the other youngsters, such as Vuckic, Abeid or Airey. However, as with Sammy, they may not get sufficient game-time to show what they can do.

    So, who will defy all expectation and have a brilliant season in your opinion?

    Cabaye. I think everyone expects him to be a star, but I think he'll do even better than people expect.

    Possibly, but his fitness is an issue which may prevent him playing a long streak if someone is injured, whoch he'd need to break into the first team.

    I will take a punt and say Ba (Cabaye is obvious), although part of me is worried that either his knee will explode or he will turn into another Shola.
