Have it any way you want, but I will never believe that the move was planned or intentional. He swung a foot at the ball that was behind him and it hit his heel precisely over the goali's hands into the top corner when reality it could have gone anywhere. Doubtless it was spectacular. Compare that to Wijnaldum's header for LFC, ball pulled back at height into danger area to be met on the penalty spot with an awesome header off the centre of the brow and directed into the corner. Header's don't come better than that and straight out of the text book.
Agree about the build up and 30 yarder as the player has sight of goal and lets fly. As long he gets on goal there is a chance of scoring, spectacular or not.
Both were incredible bits of quick thinking, improvisation and skill. The offside doesn't really come into it for me. Giroud's is just the better goal. He barely changes his stride to do it. Insane. Whether a Sunderland player had been a couple of yards closer to goal or not... That wouldn't improve what mikey ryan did for me. It was a top bit of technique. But giroud's was just a bit better.
It's a difficult one to agree on I think, whether moments like that are flukes or genius. The way I see it is this. Let's say you stand ten metres away from a small vertical pole, are given small rings to try and throw onto it and are blindfolded. It's going to take you a long, long time to get one on there, but when you do it's because of the perfect marriage of instinctively knowing where your target is and your body doing exactly what you will it to. Just because all your previous attempts were rubbish doesn't mean that when you eventually did it right it was a fluke, instead it was you finally achieving perfection.
I just find it interesting to think about these moments of brilliance on the pitch and try to work out how much of it was intentional or not. Not like it matters though.
I reckon he meant to do what he did, perhaps he never meant for it to go in off the bar but he improvised and hoped. Judging by his face afterwards he probably gave himself 1 in a million chance of it going in, but it did, if you don't have a ticket you can't win the raffle.
Vince it's sour grapes mate, you lot would be pulling your plonkers for years to come if Defoe would have scored that goal at Old Trafford.
Yeh eventually the elation of the goal will fade away When the majority of people realise it was illegal Sour grapes yeh
Why was it allowed? His foot is closer to the palace players head than Zlatans foot was to Valdes. Dangerous play surely. Total lack of consistency from the officials,
I've seen several. RVP's volley vs Villa pisses all over it. I also think Zlatan's scorpion for PSG was better than Giroud's.
wow Tel ive heard THAT THERE IS nowt nastier than a woman scorned and i believed it until i read your comments about Man U,red specs surely, think the lads are on a wind up cos you biting mate
Mate, of all posters on this board you are the last one who can't talk about biting, you lose your **** every time somebody calls your boyfriend a nasty name
