For us, no thanks. But I'm struggling to understand why Boro are looking to spend £6m on Gestede, when Crouch would surely be a much cheaper (and more PL experienced) option. He's out of contract in the summer, so Stoke would no doubt not demand much. Surely Boro have greater ambitions than planning for a return to the Championship?

One of the (many) things I like about our club is that we recruit managers in a different way from everyone else. Here's a comparison.

Crystal Palace (though you can insert almost any club in here): We need a new manager. Who's been deemed bad enough to have been sacked and is available? We need to announce this week.

Saints: We need a new manager. Who might fit us the best? We need to announce over the next couple of months.

I think the people on Saintsweb subscribe to the former method.

Hahahaha, sorry, my bad - I read your original post as "the club has told Claude Puel he is not leaving" as in Claude isn't going anywhere (rather than Virgil).

Probably the most under rated player in PL history. Has scored everywhere he's been, at every level he has played at (including international). Must be getting on a bit now, but then so is Francesco Totti.

Crouch has been a good pro for Stoke, and they should be very grateful of his patience. His time is near though, he's nearly as old as he is tall!

 

Van Dijk leaving in Jan would be season over for me. I would also start to lose faith in a board that I have believed in for quite some time.

Seeing a highlights reel of Schneiderlin at saints and just reminded me of how good he was. Wasn't just defensive qualities either, so many great balls and a few goals too. Would be a huge upgrade on what we have now, wish we were in for him.

 

After watching another abject result against Everton, we certainly could do with him back here urgently as we have no control on midfield when put under pressure. Snipers and Romeu together would give us more bit than the powder puff midfielders we have dancing around at the moment

 

Absolutely. Those two would be an absolute force in the middle and Morgan would help link defence to our forward players. Still think an attacking midfielder is needed though.

 

Les Reed will jump into action after today's result. He'll give Stephens a 4 year contract. Then he'll go for a lie down.

 

I'm still 100% certain Virgil won't go this month. But IF he did, then I would have to seriously start to question the board.
