Time for me to have a hotdog, chill a guiness have a slice of christmas cake, ponder its only a game and chill. Im not stressing over results, itll come good or it wont. Hopefully the players, manager can learn and move on. Sod all worth the angst.
He's in a different class to Dio, who doesn't currently look like a footballer, never mind a Premier League one.
I realise that...and I agree It was originally more a general question about whether he is organising the defence well enough?
It doesn't matter if you're a defender a midfielder or a striker, if you are protecting the area adjacent to the post, you ought to have enough sense to know standing behind the goal line isn't the ideal location.
That's exactly my problem with Marshall. Apart from his lack of movement. And why I think Jak is the better goalie. Jak commands his area, he shouts and bosses the defenders about, not as much as Greegsy but way more than Marshall. Marshall looks almost embarrassed to be in goal. As well he should.
I would say they are, two trophies (lge cup twice), four (lower) league titles, from 2nd biggest UK city.......but thats not the real point....
From my view he looked okay, put himself about and was tidy on the ball, at the end of the day it boils down simply to him being a bit of an article in the box and a handful to deal with, we don't have the luxury of actually talent up front at the moment. In this case it definitely was a lesser of two evils for me, Mason is quite simply one of the most nothing players I've ever seen in the shirt.
There both awful, ive seen nothing at all from mbokani, cant hold onto the pall, cant pass, gives silly free kicks away, cant score Diomande the least said the better, along with marshall these two are our major weak links that need upgrading urgently. Mbokani's scoring record is? (For us)
Casto's already answered accurately, it's a weak argument to suggest he was sacked by a bigger club, he's about the only decent manager around who'd actually consider taking the job.
Brilliant first half, that's what we can do. Phelan deserves credit for the attacking football we've been playing in recent games, however, you look at the team we've put out, and it baffles me that we're so **** at defending set pieces and crosses in general, and at the same time pretty decent at attacking set pieces. We've got Dawson, Maguire, Davies, Elmo, Mbokani, Livermore and even Diomande who are all very decent headers of a ball, and we're letting the likes of Brunt, Barkley and Campbell score easy headers against us. I accept that Phelan's got a difficult job and I want to like the guy, but I don't know what on earth he practices defensively in training.
