he was sacked after a win and with birmingham out of the play offs on goal difference, he was doing a marvellous job they have 1 point in 4 games with zola
Evans got injured so they matched our formation. Up until that point we were cruising. Should have scored more but the fact we didn't, and the fact they can switch to our formation and better us suggests we're just not good enough. Some of the points pissed away to penalties recently I would blame on the players, but our generally weak defending is the manager's fault. If Phelan should be held accountable for anything at all though it should be for going through a whole third of the season persisting with an utter ****e starting line up that got us about one attempt every other game and approximately 2 goals in a couple of months. From the start of September to the end of November we have been ****. At least it almost, sort of looks like we want it now, but it's an uphill struggle.
the last time we had a decent defence was when it consisted of davies and chester. bruce should never have bought dawson. it put davies's nose out of joint for a whole season. davies and chester were better than any pairing we've had since.
Has Phelan got a job for life? If not now is the last chance to sack his m whilst giving a new bloke a chance.
Hard to say. Good job Pulis wasn't available as a lot of our fans would have had a meltdown if he had been mentioned. Mourinho rates him highly but what does he know compared to our fans?
thats my point, they,ve made the club untouchable for most managers. They gave it to phelan because he's the only one that wanted it because of the mess the OWNERS have created
What it looks like is some of them needed to up their game for the transfer window opening...... Damn, I wasn't going to be this cynical in 2017....
He WAS asking that... but as our prize CB he should be in that mix, marking their threats. He was literally tracking nobody. Not having a go at Dawson, this is tactical. Cough Phelan cough.
People need to understand no decent manager would come here because of our owners, who have no interest on pitchside matters, just pursuing their own financial objectives and ego trips. It's pointless to try and find fault elsewhere with other club employees doing their best under ridiculous circumstances. BLAME THE MALEVOLENT OWNERS
Simple (and before I go further I have no clue who at this moment in time) we need someone who commands respect who when he says jump, the team and in our case the defenders say 'how high'...
I'll give you that one. Although, no, they shouldn't have appointed him in the first place, and yes he's ****ing useless but the responsibility for coaching the players is his. He clearly thought he was up to it, he convinced the Allams he was up to it, so whilst the Allams are at fault for giving him the chance, he's still ultimately responsible for the way the team performs. Let me ask those defending/excusing him a different question: New Owners rock up, prepared to splash some money, would you want to see him given control of spending, choosing players, and another run at being a PL Coach? I know I sure as ****e wouldn't. Priority 1: Decent Manager Priority 2: Decent manager allowed to buy players he thinks we need
