Probably because Karius is 23 and De Gea was 21 at this stage of his United career. This is what happens when you quote scousers Matt, they talk some stupid ****.
He wan't quoting anyone, he was asking a question without a question mark, between the 2 of you there's some "stupid ****" going on.
DDG had a better first season than Lorius Karius for a start, I don't know why people feel the need to compare them to be honest.
I'd argue that strongly. DDG made mistakes every single week for months. This has been going on for about 3/4 games for Karius. The difference between the two is that DDG kept his mouth shut and worked his arse off and didn't go running to Sir Alex to get the mean and nasty media to stop saying horrible things. It's why DDG is now in the top 3 best keepers in the world and Karius won't ever breach the top 25.
Karius wasn't really to blame for the free kick was he? Bit of a worldy from Payet, that. Liverpool won't be winning the league with a defence like that though. In that sense, they are starting to be found out. Think they'll be involved in a lot of 4-3 wins and losses this season, while Chelsea relentlessly grind through 1-0 win after 1-0 win. Meanwhile, it's interesting that Arsenal haven't imploded yet. Wonder when that will happen?
I didn't think the free kick was that bad. Might have been able to save it but hardly a soft one. As for DDG when he first came, he was a rabbit in headlights in terms of commanding his area but he was still a really good shot stopper if i remember. The media just decided to make a mission on him personally. Karius on the other hand has shown he can neither command his area or save shots (yet)
Pretty much on the money ... in fairness our very own Kasper Schmeichel had a bit of a mare for the first two thirds of our initial season back in the Prem .... but look at him now.... absolutely immense last season and in the UCL this... sometimes players, particularly keepers, just need a bit of time - in fairness to Klopp, he must have seen something in the lad to have both brought him in and to now persist with him under all the flak ... quite like his attitute on that front tbh
DDG was a europa league winner when he was Lorius Karius age, ironically enough, It was a Juan Mata free-kick that started it all off.
And like you think Karius wouldn't have had a better first season playing behind man yoo's title winning defence.
