Happy New Year everyone and we kick off the year entertaining Graham Westley and his basement boyo's at Adams Park and we need to set the record straight as we have never beaten the Exiles at AP, if fact we have never even shared the points having lost all three games only scoring one goal and conceding six, but we do go into this potential banana skin as the divisions form team, being undefeated in our last nine league games collecting 23pts in the process, the Exiles on the other hand have lost their last six league games including getting thrashed at home on Saturday.
Gaz has no new injury worries Paul Hayes will be assessed on the day along with Big Blacks who has had his loan extended until the end of the season although Scott Brown was possibly the man of the match on Friday.
I will be at AP for this one in what will be a busy month, with four home league games and I will be looking forward to seeing the lads end the unwanted record and stuff Westley's lot, extending our good form into 2017<cheers>

Your opening statement sounds a little bit like one of my sayings Guywanderer. "What could possibly go wrong". We have played Newport 3 times this season so far or 4 if you count the replay for the privelege of going to Anfield and playing Liverpool reserves. I don't like to rubbish a team who are down scrapping for crumbs even if I would willingly get rid of their manager out of football for ever. But, they really aren't very good despite your record against them. If Newport beat you or even take a point then I will be truely shocked. The only trouble they could give you is in yellow cards or worse because they are a typical Westley side. They moan for England even if they are based in Wales. I know that we accused your team of laying down at every opportunity last season but you were vastly different this time around. However, Newport are not adverse to doing it and a point even off you would be a coup. Terrible team and even worse Manager. We could do with you and Pompey dropping a couple of points at least to make our own position a bit more safe for now but I just can't see that happening against these.

Thompson and Hayes up front together,it didn't work earlier in the season and with that line up i think we'll struggle to score today <doh> Wonder how long before they are both subbed, i'll say 60 minutes. <steam>

Looks like Gareth is trying to give our pacemen and main assister a rest before our cup match, but has them available if needed to get the 3 points. Good move I think, as long as he doesn't leave it too late should Newport get in front or level

Now Hayes is fit Ron ( <laugh> ) I hope Ainsworth doesn't break up our attack pairing Akinfenwa and Kashket who are doing so well lately, Hayes should be sub even if he scores today.

Not sure how he'll play it Saturday. Either start Bayo and Kash and try to put the game out of reach, or leave them as a our lethal weapons once he has sussed the other team. Hopefully he will have watched videos of Stourbridge and know their weak links (if any).

They have a Development Centre for boys teams from under 11s to under 16s. Seem like a team with ambitions and with a following like theirs it could seem like we are playing away. I might put my (competition) money on Stourbridge. It's a bit worrying that Northampton couldn't score against them.

They're unbeaten since mid October so won't be a pushover,i'd play our best starting XI and if we are 2 or 3 up then bring subs on to keep players fresh and injury free for the next league game.

70: Woody with a sensational scissor-kick to level it! Instant impact from Akinfenwa, flicking on JJ's free-kick. Game on! 1-1
