It's so hard to believe what has happened over just 3 days, tonight if riots break out in more cities including Hull it will just highlight the selfishness of today's society. Many people including myself have blamed it originally on a mainly black crowd but it's become more and more obvious overnight that it is purely down to a selfish group of people (i won't call them human) that have no regard for others. The pictures of that lad getting helped up and then mugged by rioters shows the disgusting lack of morales these people have. If it all kicks off here tonight i'd be so tempted to go into town and see if there's anything me and and any mates i can gather could do to help stop the scumbags that would do this, what percentage of them are black or white is just completely irrelevant and i feel a right mug for thinking that in the first place
I wish all the looting, theiving B******, that they have caught, that if they are old enough send them to fight alongside the real men we have fighting in Afghanistan, etc and see how tough they really are. Maybe we should take a leaf out of the book of many other countries. Anyone taking part in looting or arson, ie endangering life, should be shot at with live rounds. That will send the rats back down the sewers pretty damn quick. I would also suggest that parents of children under the age of 16, be brought to book for allowing them to be out on the streets after a certain time.

Are we seeing just the tip of the iceberg where the iceberg is the utter and complete breakdown in respect for others and the law? Forty years of ever softening punitive measures have resulted in many feral kids and adults not having any respect for the law because the law no longer punishes offenders - unless, that is, we regard ASBO's and community service penalties as being as effective as penal sentences (which they never will be). We on longer punish offenders and too often it is the victim who suffers the punishment. Add compensation culture, human rights legislation and a general regard that it is a persons right to be able to sue others for even the most minor of accidents or incidents together with ambulance chasing lawyers all add to the problem whereby no one in authority dares to impose meaningful discipline. We need stronger willed courts with proper leadership from strong senior judges and politicians. If and where necessary there should be capital punishment including the death penalty. Birching or an equivalent should be mandatory for lesser serious offences. There needs to be greater availability of long and short term prisons irrespective of financial restraints. Be the offender white, black, khaki, yellow or brown is immaterial but here must be a real deterrent to committing crime. Being lenient, kind or liberal has not worked - we need and must have proper punishment.
