    Interesting stuff from http://grandprixratings.blogspot.com/

    ------
This has been a difficult season to rate for the following reasons:

    - The artificial effects of DRS, KERS, the various and compulsory tyre usages and increased importance of strategy on race data.

    - The short, pre-race timed and qualifying ‘shoot-out sessions ‘with varying tyre strategies which often render times that are not directly comparable.

However my methodology remains the same as for the other seasons documented from 1894. The figures represent running season averages, with 100.0 as the fastest. My System is not perfect: it measures relative speeds alone, not reliability. Only those races without rain, safety car periods or in which packages run well and without significant problems are counted.

    PACKAGE RATINGS
    (car plus driver combined)

    1. Vettel/Red Bull Renault 100.0
    2. Hamilton/McLaren-Mercedes 100.2
    3. Webber/Red Bull-Renault 100.3

    4. Webber, 100.3

    8. Lotus-Renault 103.8
    9. Virgin-Cosworth 105.0
    10. HR-Cosworth 105.5

By documenting these stats to the nearest 0.1 or 1/100th, much debate will be raised. However speed differentials have always been as close between certain competitors.

These stats are season averages. Individual race speed differentials can and do vary, depending on circuits, weather conditions, car and driver suitabilities.

He explains also on his website how his rating system works.

Hmmm it is certainly interesting but for me the best three drivers this season have been; Vettel, Alonso and Button.

Even though Rosberg is beating him in terms of race results, I think this closes the debate on whether Schumacher should leave,

Pfft, outqualified definately, but Heidfeld has outraced definately, would be beating Petrov more so if it hadn't been for a non-accelarating Kobayashi and a blown up car. He was faster than the group in front of himand pitted in to get the undercut. Buemi and Alguersauri in this group and they both scored points. Heidfeld doing at least as well as Petrov.

As much as a have to admit that Michael isn't going to be like he was during the 2000-2005 run, I still believe that if given a better car, he could be in the hunt for wins regularly. Nico Rosberg hasn't fared much better... so you have to conclude that it's the car. If Rosberg was dicing it up in the top three regular, scoring podiums, and Michael was putting around in 8th, then you could come to the conclusion that Michael's the problem... But that hasn't been the case.

I don't know how the system you are using works and I really don't want to know people do not support a driver by using a mathematical equation, having said that, the system is obviously flawed how can webber be rated above button in the package section when webber hasn't beaten his team mate in that package, yet button has?

I dismay at these analytical threads, I prefer raw emotion, something you can get passionate about, right or wrong.

Well that is utter bullshit really, he's basically saying the championship order. It makes no sense what-so-ever

Manny, Schumacher should leave. He is consistantly getting out performed by Rosberg, if you cant beat a team mate and think your doing well just getting within a few tenths off him, you should just go home. I dont give a **** if he's 41 or 638, if he wasnt fit enough, he wouldnt be back. He is getting beaten because he is ****. "If he had a better car" What if Kartikeyan had the Red Bull? He might be better than Vettel. All he is proving (to everyone, fans and haters) that the only reason he won 7 world championships was due to having the best car. End of story.

I'd love to see what somebody like Paul Di Resta could do in the merc, see if Schumacher is lacking in pace, or if Rosberg is just talented?

I think you missed Kovalainen above him! Although I agree Glock is placed very well when considering his position. Also, d'Ambrosio being rated the same as Trulli is interesting. Whilst with the new power steering in the Lotus I expect Trulli to improve dramatically, thats not a bad stat for d'Ambrosio in his rookie season, even if it is irrelevant.

I think this shows that Ricciardo was a strong replacement for Karthikeyan. A few more races and he'll be beating Liuzzi even though he already has.

I don't rate Rosberg that highly. He has had 2 chances to win a race and failed to convert at least one them

He may be better than Schumacher, but look at the situation Schumi is in at the moment...
Rosberg is not immune to mistakes either, locking up and letting drivers through for position, yes he could have won twice, and didn't... shame no one has picked this up other than you PMC :)

Well I think it's the fact the others want Schumacher out for F1 to let a rookie get a big chance at Mercedes. ;)

    Fred?

You weren't even around when Schumacher used to race Senna and win races in a second-rate Benetton, you of all people have shown to me that you do not know the meaning of making a team successful, you probably follow a guy who has sat in a race winning team and complains when things go wrong atm.
No need for the bad language mate? really shows why your comments should be taken into account with your vast intelligence.

I dont give a **** if he's 41 or 638, if he wasnt fit enough, he wouldnt be back. He is getting beaten because he is ****

Well you have shown us that you have already closed your eyes on the main reason why he is a tad slower, don't see the point in debating with you, you so furiously want him to leave..
