No resemblance whatsoever. Harry is definitely looking like a good 'un, but he's got a long way to go before his name can be mentioned in the same sentence as Beckenbauer, Moore, etc.
I thought we were decent and gave a really good account of ourselves. They did well to be so positive in the second half as that Marshall blunder at the end of the first must have been an absolute hammer blow. It will have completely transformed the HT team talk and dampened what was an excellent first half performance. Really poor from Marshall for the first - didn't hear him shout or anything. He should have taken the ball and Mbokani out with a solid punch. Really weak and the actions of a goalkeeper playing with zero confidence. The team deserved more tonight.
Good post. Marshall did do some good stuff, but he seems to be under pressure. Are folk talking about him?
We are playing better than we did under Bruce in the Premier League last time we went down. Unfortunately Bruce was well backed then. We don't seem to be a lucky team any more, maybe used it up all last season?
He made a couple of decent saves in the second half, but that glaring first half error is what he'll be remembered for in this game. Onto the next game. I genuinely think with 4 decent additions whether loans or permanent we stand a chance of staying up, if we can maintain our current levels - fine lines between win, lose or draw in this league. We're really not far off having a team capable of finishing outside the bottom 3.
We're conceding a lot from crosses. I'd like to know how many crosses we face compared to other clubs. My hunch is it's a lot more and that's the problem. Watching on TV it's even more frustrating than being there and you can see more clearly how penned back we are and for how long. A few times tonight we tried to pass our way out with mixed success, but ultimately it seemed like there were too many attacks which lasted for wave after wave.
The problem is the defence sits so deep and the midfield sits just in front of the defence. I think I can guess why the defence is sitting so deep, but I don't think you'll like my answer. It's that the defence lack confidence in our keeper. They're sitting so deep anticipating errors you can see it in the game.
baines stood there at a complete stop before even crossing the ball and elmo just backed off.. he's a ****ing terrible defender and always has been i said it before.. the worst thing in pre season was odubajos injury snodgrass was extremely cumbersome too though.. pathetic in all accounts
Snodge was the most guilty. He started to go in for a challenge on Baines, then both of them totally stopped as if they thought the whistle had gone (one in the crowd, maybe?). Baines almost immediately got going again, while Snodge just stood and watched.
IIRC someone on here made a lot of one glaring error that Jak made, an error which seemingly cost him his place. Will justice now finally be done, after an even bigger error from Marshall, will he be dropped and Jak reinstated?
please log in to view this image it's shocking really don't understand what elmo was doing, just far too slow
Not for me, he went past Snodders, that can happen, but Elmo was the last line of defence to stop the cross and his attempt was truly abysmal.
it's both but elmo was infront and reacted far too slow, it's actually embarrassing really baines had all the time in the world to cross that ball snodgrass should have immediately gone to close him down or close down the other guy and elmo just stood there can't do that in the prem
