True, the question must be asked... what formation are the critics suggesting we have messed up with these signings?

its all a question of timing, we have gerrard, meireles and aquilani all seeming vying for a place behind carroll in the centre. you could argue mr squarez wants to play there too. But in the next two weeks suddenly that could resolve itself. (not that i want aquilani to go but there you go)

equally it could be argued maxi, kuyt and henderson will all want that wide right slot... yet for years those same cirtics tell us kuyts not a winger but a forward and that maxi is not good enough... again there you go.

again on the left, maxi, cole downing... it could be resolved quickly.

Adam, meireles and lucs will be the three for two in central midfield, and why not? thats not a bad situation to have surely?

the critics tell us our defense is woeful, and yes the left back slot is unresolved but there's still time.

The critics are just that, they just snipe, clearly they don't see the big picture where kuyt will be more of a striker reserve than ever, he'll be hard pushed to keep the right wing slot. clearly they don't see the formation deployed by keny in preseason but focus on 4-4-2 all the time.

finally its obvious they don't worry about gerrard being unfit as we have to.

Sometimes its better to have to many options than no options.
    Who has the bettter scenario.
Liverpool or Man United,we've too many central midfielders and they have...erm Carrick and Anderson and Gibson.

    Agree.

utd have the overall squad but they don't look creative in midifeld and will be relying heavily on wingers and rooney to make the goals. I'd expect a very deep lying and so lower scoring rooney this year unless they sign...

We have enough options for this year to compete where we need to, in the league verses the teas outside the top 4. we've the options to work hard and get the away results.... once the defense is solid.

Here's how i think it will go:

Pundits predict 4/5/6th position for us.

We exceed expectations early on and by Christmas are doing very well.

Pundits say we are performing above our level and tweek their predictions to simply say they do not think Liverpool will win the league.

We will drop a few points at Christmas, then have a strong finish as our players will be fresh (no Europe) and we will finish maybe 2/3/4th. As long as we don't win the league none of these pundits will be called out, and their prediction of Utd to win the league masks all.

In the summer we then sign the 1 or 2 players that we need to give us more variety and strength up front so that we can be very tough in both Europe and the league, and every pundit will predict 3rd place for us behind Utd and City.

I think it will be you or us in the top 4, not both. But if chelsea do **** again (here's hoping) then it is possible.

If we do well this year (top 4 finish) then the pundits will be saying something like "my outside tip for the title is Liverpool, I've been watching their progression for a few seasons now"

How to be right withoput even trying:emoticon-0102-bigsm

RVF i saw an article yesterday (think it was the mirror unfortunately, but it came up on newsnow) about Arsenal fans being unhappy that Wenger just splashed large amounts on Oxlade-Chamberlain and yet still hasn't addressed the areas everyone thinks you need, however in the comments section all the Arsenal fans were deliriously happy you had signed this kid. Does that represent you lot? Because without going with the media flow i would be getting somewhat frustrated myself if i was an Arsenal fan!

And if City continue to be as tactically inept as they were in the Charity Shield and United convince themselves that they really are as good as they believe (which they are not) then we could be challenging each other for the title!

The Utd fans i know have a serious boner on for this season after the second half, ignoring the fact the first half showed they could be seriously tested by 5 man midfields unless they get that top midfielder they need. The fact city couldn't keep the ball second half because they are a team of human tanks hid this.
