Grass is fine, unless the ground underneath is bone hard. It's what I ended up doing years ago. Jumping in my car, driving five minutes and running around a recreation field. I'd rather get covered in **** and mud than keep smashing my joints down on a rock hard surface. Rowing is terrific exercise, btw. Just ****ing boring unless you're doing it on water.
I do it in the summer. Tbh I find running on grass more tiring than on the road. Don't know why, maybe the terrain. I think I'll have to make the change to grass though. My daughter sometimes goes running with me and I don't want to **** up her knees.
Was thinking this. Both my knees are on the dodgy side anyway so perhaps tarmac isn't a good idea. I live and work on the coast so beach not a problem. ALL her family, including disabled uncle, now have fitbits. Complete waste of time, none of them do anything but walk so they're just expensive step counters.
I saw some panorama type show that scientifically proved that fitbits are a total con. The accuracy levels are shocking!
Depends... I never row at a constant. Instead I'll do 200m bursts of full on pace, followed by 200m on a relaxed pace, then back to full pace and so on. Doing it that way, your mind is focused and the time goes quicker. I never need to do more than 10 mins and it's a lot more challenging and a better workout. Full body workout as well.
I love the rowing machine as you can really feel it working. I do bursts like you, doesn't get boring. That might be due to me using it about 3 times a year though I should use it more tbh, considering I row in the sea on Sundays (not every Sunday!).
Mrs Stan's motivation to get a Fitbit was definitely because she thought people would look at it and think "she must be well into her fitness". The clue was when we looked at the website to choose which one she'd get for Christmas. Obviously she didn't go for the standard option which would have sufficed if it was just going to be used to help her exercise, she chose the slightly more expensive and fancier special edition one. So basically it's a watch and an accessory. It's categorically not going to be used to help her exercise.
That might be a sore point for discussion. Just yesterday, a friend invited us to stay at a cottage in Poole with his family in the summer. Both our Mrs didn't like it when we reminded them there would be some cooking involved. Didn't help we did it in classic wum mode as you'd expect on Not606, she told me to **** off in no uncertain terms
Maybe you should continue over indulging and staying on your arse. Imagine how fast you would be after a year.
Astroturf and arthritis did my knees in my early 30's. I can't run anymore, I used to do a lot. Playing indoor footy on astroturf did a really bad number on me.
