Good luck. May Force* be with you. * for those lacking in spirit, imagination or just plain grumpy bastards, I know the Force is a fictional myth ** ** for those believers, I know the Force is real and that it can't be felt by non-believers. I even saw it once.
So then who is going to do the West Brom thread? If there are no takers, I'll give it another go? We may go unbeaten for 4 months again
For the first 15 minutes, we were the team doing the high pressing and I was really struck by the irony. The difference in class showed in the end though. Their finishing was great however much one might analyse whether this defender or that should have prevented it. Strangely, I look back on the game with some positives. As the motto goes, we never gave up and tried until the end. At least, the players did. I know that individual fans are entitled to leave a game early. That is their right having paid for their seats. But I am entitled to feel that the exodus which happened after the third Spurs goal was possibly the most embarrassing moment of so-called support I have witnessed in years, particularly after the 10 had given everything on the pitch and you could not fault the desire or effort. Please note that I do not want to start an argument with anyone about this. As I said, anyone is entitled to leave and I not questioning motives here, just telling you how it made me feel.
Not as bad as the exodus after liverpool's fourth in the league cup last season.... that was 11 players though. I like to stay to the end, but I only have a nearly two hour journey home This exodus also gave a second opportunity to those very close to ours wanting to try and "start something"
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...uld-face-extended-suspension-tv-picturesshow/ I didn't see that?
Last night on the radio they said he gauged his eye. This is just what that twat is like. I've never liked him. He's the sort of player that you'd want to leave a leg in or a trailing elbow if you were playing against him. Whenever I see him play he dishes stuff out and then squeaks like a child when anything happens against him. Remember him getting Gaston in trouble?
Fatletiss I came to the match expecting Spurs being given the same treatment as Arsenal last Boxing Day. However, we were unable to replicate that after the equaliser. Along with Chelsea, I felt that Spurs were the best team we have played against. I would like to see Saints destroy the opposition but , if we are going to lose at home, I can't see the shame in being beaten by a team that played such good football. A flasttering scoreline? Well, I was relieved that we went in on the break at 1-1. As I said, the miss by Wanyama and the squandered penalty could have made the result far worse although we were guilty of not capiltising on the errors by Lloris, the least impressive Spurs player last night. Honestly, I thought that Spurs knocked the ball around superbly, were deadly on the break and also managed to shift the speed at which the game was played at will - especially during the first half. Spurs looked far, far better than Liverpool. The good thing about that spurs team was that so many on those players were England internationals. I am sure that they will be a much more appealing, footballing team than when Pulis brings down WBA on Saturday. .
We didn't capitulate. When the subs came on we played really well for a team with ten men. The issue was more of a case that there were last periods of the game where we rarely had the ball. The BBC is stating that Spurs had 66% possession and whilst I am aware that having the ball does not mean you are doing damage to the opposition, it would have been interesting to see the percentage of time Spurs had the ball in our half after they had equalised and in the first period.
Oddly, I quite enjoyed last night. First game for a few weeks so I was buzzing. What a start. What a man VVD is! The first twenty minutes we could easily have been a couple up; we were all over them. Then a goal for them and we withstood the pressure well until half time. Once they had a second and we were down to ten men it looked all over but we kept trying and it could have come off. Excellent team spirit. We have come back from being behind - Bournemouth and Inter spring to mind immediately (how short memories can be) - but this time we couldn't. The third and fourth happened only because we were trying to get back into the match. I've never understood why protecting your goal difference is ever a good idea and I was pleased to see that even a man down we were trying to get that goal. If Hojbjerg hadn't been surprised to find himself with the ball it'd have been very different. So, an exciting match all round. The only downside was that my bet on VVD to score didn't go on for some reason. That and the cocks around me baying for Fraser's, Fonte's, JWP's, Hojbjerg and Boufal's blood. And, whatever happens, we'll always have Harry Kane's penalty. Vin
Well I've watched the penalty incident another ten or so times this morning and nothing, absolutely nothing has changed my mind. No pull back. No penalty. Redmond falls over and that's it. A shocking and game changing decision. Verthuggen getting a ban will hardly make up for it.
Not sure i like the new tom, he's gone from angry aggresive see the bad in everything to a happy clappy we played well were just unlucky kind of guy overnight. He still blindly defends referees though so not all bad.
There were good signs in the game, but I am worried about our habit of dropping back far too deep. Need to cut that out.
I don't blame the officials at all for missing the Vertonghen incident, but it doesn't stop it from being frustrating. Just quarter of an hour into the game, with us 1-0 up and dominating (it happened as part of Vertonghen just getting to loose ball in the penalty box before Jay). Moments later, they're level.
