Vertonghen is really stupid for reacting to that Long tackle. In the book and now he misses the Watford game.
4-1 FT. Great recovery after a really **** start. Looked in trouble for about 20 minutes, then took control and never really looked back. Don't know what happened to Southampton, as they looked like they ran out of steam. Been out on the piss, perhaps? Big result, which we desperately needed. Tough team to score against and we hit four and could've had more. Need to kick on from this.
That's the stupid part NSIS. The yellow card accumulation rule expires after this round of games, so if they'd picked up a yellow against Watford it would've counted as 1 of 5 in a new period of accumulation. Hopefully Toby will be back but looks as though Wimmer will get a run out. Trippier or Dier at RB.
It's worse than that, IIRC. It just disappears, so you have to hit 10, at which point you get a 2 match ban. A card against Watford would've been card 5 of the 10.
Well played lads. You look a really well drilled team, rather than thrilling this season, but that's MP for you. Didn't think that was a 4-1 game, but the sending off really shagged us. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Cheers. Always a penalty, never a red. But truth be told you didn't look capable of doing much from about the 25th minute onwards. Most of your chances came from our inexplicable clowning around at the back. Hugo - were it not for his love of giving Spurs fans heart attacks - would've had nothing to do all game. I have to say, Forster is a keeper I've long rated, but that was a very disappointing display from him.
I thought it was the other way round actually, never a penalty, but was a red. The foul was way outside the box. Forster has been carrying an injury for a while now (hence his ropey kicks) but we only have Stuart Taylor on the bench (yes, him, from about 50 years ago). Our very good number two keeper Alex McCarthy is injured, otherwise I think Fraser would be due a spell on the sidelines. We're a decent striker away from being a good team - we've gone more defensive under Puel because we've kinda had to, as we're pretty toothless up front. Hopefully that gets changed in January and we can find someone half decent to bring in.
Forster's confidence appeared to be shot from the early passes that he had to make, all of which went astray. He seemed to be blaming the pitch, which Lloris went on to do and we all saw what happened on the penalty. Is the surface there alright, as it didn't seem to be up to your usual standard? Good luck with the rest of the season, by the way. You've recovered well from various sides tapping up your talent and Puel seems to have adapted very quickly. Didn't know a lot about him when he joined, but it's clear that he's not another Bob Bradley!
