since we're one player away from our 25 man squad limit (and assuming that spare space is for a striker) then yes, we need to sell before we buy.

    Squad size, not funds.

  3. I don't think we should have to sell before we buy a new striker lads. If we get rid of Routledge, Smith, Perch and all those useless fecks then it's good business, but i'll be annoyed if we need to sell one of better players before buying another quality one.

  4. Are you sure our squad size is actually 25? Remember u21's don't count.

But we can leave players out the squad... like Perch and Smith.

And I find it hard to believe we have 24 players that go towards the squad!

I dont think this is about selling because of transfer fees. This is about squad size and wage limit. Ashley has obviously set a wage limit he is prepared to pay for the whole squad and with the likes of Smith, Perch and Xisco still on high wages he doesn't want to bring players in until they are gone as each new player will want around 40/50k and that is what Smith and Xisco are earning. Get the deadwood out and replace them with better backups. I dont like Ashley but hes trying to make the club into a successful business that makes a healthy profit.

I doubt Perchy is on high wages to be fair.

  12. Agreed Alfie but i'll still be annoyed if in the future we need to sell quality to buy quality, we should be allowed to spend a good portion of the Carroll money on transfers. I understand why we aren't spending all of it, and i'm glad some of it is being put to use in other ways, but if we sell quality we need to replace it with quality. We've gotten some cracking midfield players, but we need another striker desperate. Ba looks good but he's not good enough to be the sole replacement of Carroll.

Imagine if he gets injured then we'll have to do with Best, Ameobi and Lover... <doh> Same ****e as last season.

I don't see why we can't just go after a striker that may cost a bit of money. If he's asking for 100k a week then fine, but if he's asking for 50/60k a week and will cost 15m then i don't see the problem. There will still be plenty left over to pay for fees, wages ect.

We need to keep quality and build, not just sell and buy.

Squad size is 24, space for one more striker, so YES, we do need to sell to buy. No 2 ways about it.

We counted them the other day. Do it yourself if you want.

  18. We can leave players out of the squad mate. Perch can be left out with Xisco, and Forster can leave on loan. 21 players, we can get four more in.

    It's 24 now we've signed Obertan yeah...

    But that includes:

    Xisco
    Perch
    Smith
    Raylor

Who will play less than 10 league games between them.
