Thought this was a great game even though we lost. Still got a semi on with that Tony Towers pass. No shame to lose when you play like this. I was in Whitburn cricket club the night ofthe game and most of the Sunderland players who played that day were sitting having a drink and playing cards....they never watched the game that was playing on Match of the Day....mustn't have been impressed they got beat....lol
---- and if we lose tomorrow so be it, but please let us see some of that tackling and desire to get forward to score goals
I was at that game in with the home supporters unfortunately - great game but I got hit on the head with a brick on the way back to the bus bloody Man U animals. Wonder if it was Tel's father
Some great tackles flying in there. The one from Guthrie would probably be a straight red today...lol
It was a halfie - bounced off my head and there were only two of us and lots of them so discresion being the better part of valour we legged it back to the bus sharpish
I was there and a bloody bog seat went whizzing across my head at half time. Nice top were wearing there
Wasn't it novel to see forwards standing on their feet after being heavy-tackled. Today's heroes would be writhing around even if they had not been touched.
Interesting to see the havoc caused by both teams when the forwards ran at the defense and committed the defenders. Don't see much of that today when teams play with one up front
You never see the guy much when they do the player reunions. Does he still live local? Hell of a player!!!
Hear hear don't be fooled into accepting all this diving and falling over is part of the game it's not its in the game because like most other things its been ruined
Of course it could be stopped anything can if the will and desire is there . like most things in the game nobody knows the rules any more .its a mess .no honesty.no consistency. I will never accept a full grown man falling over like a baby when no contact being made .the game is now likened to panto and wrestling. If you have never known any different i can understand the lack of understanding which most of us older football fans remember how it was compared to now, can it get worse?
Unfortunately JD it is an epidemic with no known cure other than stamping it out from within starting with the managers.
I may have a few years on ya mate but you sound a bit like King Canute trying to turn the tide back. It ain't gonna happen. I'm not saying it's right. It's just the way things are
