I'm not sure if Moyes used the chambers here but if he did it would perhaps explain why LVG was so unlucky with injuries at first.
Wrong end of the stick on this one TSM, at the time lots of us were taken up with Sam's scientific sports methods as he kept Kabould, Kirch and Catts fit, but as Clockstander says Tel did sound an alarm bell about that treatment not getting to the root cause of the underlying problem. FWIW I was, and am, a big fan of Sam and just merely posted that as a talking point not a criticism.
Very few people, if any, argued that he didn't deserve a new contract until he'd proved his fitness. Only kidding Marcus.
Aye indeed. No point having players that can't get on the pitch. Pains me to say but even Catts! I think I've overlooked his injury record tbh cos I love the bloke
I know we recently lost our club doctor over the PvA business, but often wonder if the players are insurance covers long term indefinable injury leading to the insurance companies insisting on a medical specialist report. IIRC Catts was found to have had an undiagnosed hip problem for years. This might then fall into the deflected pain syndrome which I know from the experience of having a dodgy knee which has led to me setting myself to compensate for it and now I have occasional back problems stemming from it apparently.
I read in the Echo yesterday and it was a quote from DM, that we can't even go in for loan deals until we ship some out to free up wages. A right sorry state of affairs FFS. How badly has this club been ran?????
I've always loved Catts style of play and commitment, but he's a liability mate. Either injured or suspended.
I wasnt having a go mate. I know Sam had his methods and he bought alot of new ideas to the club I just cant see if its a good method why our doctors would totally dismiss it because weve changed manager. Ive always thought a manager is there to concentrate on picking and assembling a team to compete and injured players are left to the medical experts. At least thats how it should be anyway?
He has curbed the fouling side if his game since Poyet was here to be fair. His injury record, when you look back, is horrendous. Pity because he does give the team a lift
I fully agree mate, we're a different team when he plays but sadly that's few and far between nowadays isn't it.
The lad is made of chocolate. Good player on his day but I feel we as a club cannot carry someone like him....
Pity because he's head and shoulders above any other midfielder in our squad currently. In more ways than one.
Kept us up last year, but like Catts, move them on and free the wages up for lads who play. You can't build a team around this type, thats why ambitious clubs move them on.......to cubs like us.
Sad but true, I will resist mentioning M'Vila, who never missed a game last season, and is just the type you could build a team around, shame Little Dave thought otherwise. Catts, Hoff and Rodders you might get a season out of that lot combined if your lucky. Hopefully Denayer and N'Dong can act as building blocks this season and help stabilize our midfield, still like to see Papy and even PVA have a shot at midfield roles, but to do that we would need at least one new defender in the Jan window, two would be ideal. Could it be possible that Big Sam taking the Palace job will sting Short into positive action, I would love to think so.
He provided a return on the fee we paid for him so we have not lost. It is just a pity his injuries would probably not guarantee us giving him another contract.
