Mirror pools and illuminations - Hull city centre makeover is just days away The finishing touches are being made to Hull city centre's multi-million pound makeover. The timelapse video above shows the public realm works taking place between February and November this year. The works started in late 2015 and have caused major disruption to shoppers, businesses and commuters. But city council officials say most of the first phase of the programme is scheduled to be completed by the end of the week with the remainder due to be finished before New Year's Eve. By then, main routes including Jameson Street, Whitefriargate and the western end of King Edward Street, should be clear of orange barriers along with Queen Victoria Square and Trinity Square. Garry Taylor, the council's major projects director, said: "It really is all coming together and by Christmas Eve most of the first phase works will be completed and open. "The contractors will be back at work on Boxing Day to finish off the remaining areas before the New Year." http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/mirr...9997388-detail/story.html#BD6YZhFEst4ZHu6L.99
Not really, it took them a while to get going, but they've been motoring through it over the past month.
I was in town during the week before Xmas and I only saw one person working whilst plenty of them were stood around not doing anything but eating, on phones or chatting.
