Morning all from my very peaceful corner of France. I am not gloating as I am well aware that from time to time there are outbreaks of violence in this country, mainly around the outskirts of large cities such as Paris or Marseille. The parent/ child relationship has changed since I was a young teenager. Very few mothers went out to work in those days and we came home to them, and if later than usual, because we had stopped to play am impromptu game of football, the first question would be, "Where have you been".

I have had many thoughts about what has been going on in the UK, but will not expand on them further. I am just hoping that things quieten down as quickly as they burst into life.

Bristol City game tonight called off - ours to follow tomorrow night?

England v Netherlands game tomorrow now called off too!

I really wish they would unleash the army on these kids.... Even their presence would be a deterrent!

Or they would be another target to have a pop at , The armys rules of engagement would be the same as the polices, ie hands are tied by PC laws!
One thing that needs changing is the law itself to enable the authorities to put down rioting swiftly ! All in favour of the right to demonstate to get a viewpoint across!
    Totally against opportunist lawlessness!

Protesting/demonstrating is fine, as long as it is peaceful and organised. These are just mindless criminals and opportunists who are using any excuse to vent their anger, and a chance to steal a tv, pair of trainers or a fire extinguisher!

The police just doesn't have enough trained officers to deal with this. The Army would be better equipped, have more numbers and be far more intimidating! These rioters know that the police can't do anything but if they see a couple of hundred army guys walking at them, they will soon disperse! Their anger is also aimed at the police, so they would be less likely to do anything towards the army either!

PC has gone mad in this country, and you hope something like this might make people think... the problem is, the PC-brigade are at home, all tucked up in bed and as long as this doesn't effect them, they will still want these people to have their 'human rights'!

And here's me brushing my old boots, waiting for the call to go bang some heads! The Police are stretched good to see they used the riot vehicles to disperse the little misunderstood souls! I just wish I hadn't misplaced my baseball bat, still I have an old swan neck putter which will still do the job to calm people down:)

Kev I think are Army lads are stretched enough at the moment ! However if things carry on as is , then yes they should be brought in to strengthen the police response!
I do like Ak's watercannon with indellible ink idea to mark out trouble makers!

Yeah I think it's a brilliant idea... but probably costs too much money <whistle>

I can just imagine the army boys watching this and wishing they could get their hands on them!!

Cameron must have had his 'Cobra' meeting by now... wonder what they have decided to do, or not, as the case may be!

Tell you mate I would gladly do "Crowd control" There are soldiers getting shot at on the front line in Afghan, taking their life in their hands just trying to travel in country. Then back home you get scum looting shops, terrifying innocent bystanders, causing havoc, they know the Police have their hands tied due to "Human rights" What about the rights of the shop owners who have lost everything! :steam::angry:

Agreed Al Laws need to change , prisons already full and draining the economy , only one radical solution , You burn something down ,you have to build it again !
You kill someones livelihood ,you should provide for him and his dependants! If you cant then well capital punishment springs to mind!
It is obvious there is no deterrent to lawlessness ,theres needs to be one!

But they are just misunderstood! my A***, like you say make them pay, with their time and effort I saw on Twitter and it has been reported in the News that they are asking for volunteers to go help tidy up, bring a brush and bin bags! Thankfully there still are some kind, caring people out there! It should have never happened then these people could go about their daily businesses!
