well, I got a free ticket last night, so I went to watch it. I wasn't expecting much after seeing 'the Force Awakens' and not being too impressed, it seemed to follow the script of the original film far too much. happily I can say Rogue One doesn't have much of the usual Star wars cheese. take some ear plugs, the musical score is so ****ing loud.

Agreed. The best SW film since the originals. Loved it. And it highlights just how poor Force Awakens was.

Do we need spoilers or shall we just talk about that ending? <whistle>

the only spolier I'll give is that Peter Cushing came back from the dead to be in the film.

Not sure if we watched the same film.

Had more of the usual Star Wars cheese than the other 7 combined.

"Be careful not to choke on you aspirations, Director".
"There is trouble on the horizon. There is no horizon".
    "No more hostiles!.....One more hostile".

  7. I haven't seen The Arrival, yet.

But I will be adding this to my list, along with Passengers.

    Arrivals... very good <ok>

Not sure Passengers will be any good. I expect the plot is **** tbh.

Silence should be good. Not holding much hope for Assassin's Creed either but Fassbender rarely does a **** film so there's hope.

    Went Tuesday night. Loved it.

Needed a Jedi in it though. That was the only disappointing aspect.

The other thing I found irritating was the handover of the disk with the plans. Considering the size of the rebel ship pretty coincidental that the place Vader boards just so happens to be the bit in the ship where they're trying to get the plans to a safe place. Thought that was a load of ****e.

I loved force awakens though agree with numerous plot holes.

I hope the next one to follow force awakens will be better. I just think there was too much time gap from return of the Jedi to it. If the empire was defeated why was there still a rebellion? Where did these new sith people come from? Wasn't clear who or what was in charge after the emperor.

There's a section for off topic stuff too. General chat . <ok>

You should go on there and introduce yourself.

  14. In the old days, there would be a mod on hand to do something useful, like merge this thread with the Barry Norman thread.

    Just saying.

Why would anyone want to discuss Barry Norman?

I think they concentrated on linking it to the old films and this worked very well, the next film now needs to crack on a do a good story for the new characters.

See that's where I think it failed. As it didn't link it well. We don't know anything about who was in charge, why there was still a rebellion. How was the empire defeated yet these new bastards appear in their place. Whether these things will get answered who knows.

  20. I'd love to be mod of this board.

    I'd do a cracking job.

Imagine the uproar when I ban Pixie, Skiddy and Bambi on trumped up charges!
    <laugh>

****! It would be worth it. You all know it would!
