To be fair, you were probably thinking about the old 83 and how I used to be. Understandable, mate <ok>

I presume you're having a laugh with this comment. I compared him to Uncle Albert. I very much doubt he or any one else will have been as affected by it as you're suggesting.

I'm not bullying Marcus at all and I'm certainly not ganging up with anyone and I haven't done in the past either. No idea what you're talking about if you're being serious and to be honest I don't really care to know.

Last I'll say on this because I don't want an innocuous post turning into an episode of sex and the city.

What if, what if, it's not about that. You said we should sell if we get a decent offer for Pickford and yes, Vito is a very competent keeper and replacement, no worries. But that would leave us dangerously vulnerable in the keeper dept. Defoe's situation is different, we have him and Vic and that's it, unless you want to consider an untried Asoro?

Also, if we sold Pickford that would free up one wage and i don't think Jordan is on mega bucks yet so in reality we wouldn't be freeing up much and we're already at busting point with the FFP. You could sell him for £50m and it wouldn't do much good apart from clearing some debt.

I kind of think we're basically agreeing! Don't oersonallynthink Vic can do what Defoe does. If Defoe is out then we're in the ****. no offence to Vic but hes not the natural instinctive finisher Defoe is

The point i'm trying to make Marcus is that if we sell Pickford, all we have is Vito with an untried youngster as back up. We may well get £20m for Jordan and free up his wage, and this is a total guess but i doubt he's on more than £20k a week. We are currently at busting point with the wage bill and FFP rules, so freeing up £20k a week and bringing in £20m isn't going to help a lot.

I say we keep young talent such as Pickford, regardless of worth and if we have to, then we get rid of the likes of Manquillo, Januzai and even Denayer although the later has actually proved his worth, unlike the other two. Maybe then DM can go shopping for more useful loan deals.

No, just untried and do we really need to be going into the final half of the season, still in the drop zone and having to rely on an untried keeper? massive gamble mate, massive.

He played regularly for Boavista the last two seasons. I wouldn't say he was particularly untried.

He is a gamble but then so was Pickford. He was untried in the Premier League too.

As I understand it (and I may well be wrong) selling Pickford wouldn't just free up his weekly wage to be spent on someone else. Any money made on him could be used in a variety of ways to structure deals and provide funds to pay the wage of someone else. And on top of that, the income that we make on him would change the dynamic of where our income comes from which would alter the way we're affected by FFP, possibly meaning that would be able to spend a greater proportion of income on wages.

I'd rather we didn't sell him but if doing that keeps us in the Premier League then I'm for it. I think if we go down we'll not be coming back for a long while. In which case Pickford will leave eventually anyway.
