Updated figures from the police: @PolizeiBerlin_E: Traurige Gewissheit, heute verloren am #Breitscheidplatz 12 Menschen ihr Leben, 48 liegen, zum Teil schwer verletzt, in Krankenhäusern. 12 killed, 48 injured.
Been enjoying it, but there's a lot that doesn't quite work on it too - particularly the celeb thing.
Amidst all the worldwide doom and gloom, can I offer a tiny little positive.? It's the shortest day of the year today. The Sun is on its way back to us in the Northern Hemisphere. Sorry, the antipodes. It's our turn again.
Always good news, but I do this every year. After Xmas I expect Spring instantly, but we usually have a couple of the worst months. Still I shall be positive.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38389374 Something more cheerful and Christmassy. A ten-year-old girl with special needs sings Hallelujah.* *words changed obviously.
Why do I have to go down with Man Flu now? When I haven't finished buying the presents, there are loads to wrap and I'm hosting 20 people on Boxing Day .......
Worrying won't help you. Take each day at a time. Today is total rest day....then see where you are. If still a problem....don't be afraid to ask friends for help. Turn the Boxing Day Event into a bring your own food event if you need to. Appeal to people's good nature....you will be surprised how everyone will muck in. But today is sofa day.
It's called seasonal thermal lag. Yes, I know it sounds like something one should put around the boiler. Indeed, be positive. I find that knowing the shortest day is passing/has passed lifts my spirits more than the Xmas/New Year celebrations. Those with seasonal affected disorder must be cheering from the rooftops.
Thanks, Fran - you got it. I'm currently lazing on the sofa with plenty of tea and paracetamol. Got some lemon and honey for later - but really need umpty-three massive boxes of man-size tissues!! Will ask everyone to bring leftovers on BD - great idea!!
You know someone who fits the bill? [there might have been a pun in there. I think it was unintended]
My BFF is off to Tenerife with her husband. She usually goes on holibobs with me, but apparently she has to go with him once a year. Don't see why....some people are just so so selfish. Self, self, self.
My friend's husband is super understanding about how much time we spend together, but I think that would be a step too far. She would prefer to accompany me everywhere...definitely not fair on him.
