Yep although perhaps you should've put that in a spoiler Having said that, considering everyone knows this is the story inbetween and none of the characters reappeared in later films then it was very likely the outcome. But agree totally, and I think that's what made the characterisation so much more powerful. It was genuinely gutting. Even when that empirial droid robot gets it at the end, you're like '****'! I thought at the time that's a marked difference to Ja Ja ****ing Binks!!
Yeah. Giving away the ending to a film that most people haven't seen yet gets you transfered from Santa's good list to his bad list in a hurry.
Agreed...loved it...I liked TFA though. They didn't have to rehash the story as it WAS the original story lol.. Agree about characterisation...even more impressive with the sheer number of new characters involved. The resurgent empire story isn't that impossible..given the original empire ruled the galaxy...killing it's 2 ultimate leaders by end of ROTJ doesn't make what you'd have to assume was a billion or so strong military organisation just simply disappear..A New Hope and now Rogue one suggests an organisation with lots of cut throat vying among the upper echelons...enough to suggest it wouldn't be impossible for previously lower level leaders seizing the advantage once Palpatine and Vader are gone...see how it gets explained in 8 I hope. I'll wait for 8 to see what explanation they give to Lukes apparent total disillusionment lol.. There's loads of easter eggs in this including quite a few from Rebels... The fact that almost none of the scenes shown in the first couple of trailers appeared in the final movie shows just how big a reshoot went on. Possible Spoiler Alert! Oh and my only question generated by Rogue One. ..R2D2 and C3P0 are shown on Yavin 4...anyone want to state why I'd have a very big problem with this? Lol...
I dunno what in the hell show you've been watching but in the mid-season finale I saw Maggie (and none of the main group) are anywhere near Negan by the time the episode ends, they're all at Hilltop having a slice of apple pie before it becomes piss your pants city

If 8 had have been laid out like rogue one it would have been better. Zero explanation of the silly named new super villian I coyld buy a fractured empire with factions per books. The first order being a section of galaxy ruled. But you would expect an alliance faction not a "rebellion" 30 years on. Lukes pussying out and leaving a map is unexplained But reys mystical look then suddenly knowing how to fight or do the old mind trick etc... well its unexplainable unfortunately. I didnt have an issue with a random storm trooper bit not wanted to slaughter etc and running but i felt the whole esape was weak... as was han Solo just turning up.

Spoiler: Spoiler Na that's not the problem..They are with Captain Antilles on Yavin who is captain of the Ship Leah is on. (He gets force choked start of New Hope). So I assume they went with him because C3PO tells Luke Antilles was their last master. The issue is: If the Droids have already been at the secret rebel base why the **** would they need to go to Alderaan with Obiwan to handover the death star plans rather than just take them straight to the fecking rebel base!
Spoiler: spoiler how about the odd fact that they leave with the plans on a ship and they then head for tatoinne.. why would you take the plans you need to analyse to obi wan in a hick planet and not get right on analysing them.
