I'm not sure if we're referring to the same incident. First half, cross from our right, I thought it was Milner, stood about a yard or so outside the box near the byline and the ball hit his arm. It looked as clear as day to me, and I was about 10 yards away.

Pretty sure on about same one but it wasn't Hendo. Same one few have referred to earlier posts.

It hit hit his hip / thigh then rebounded onto his arm. Clearly biased but was never a pen (and think was outside the box). Don't remember any Milner one so pretty sure it's that one.

Didnt grt spoken avkut about once after game so wasn't even a contentious decision really?

lol, i'm okay. Wouldn't have affected the result it was just a free kick. I can't recall an instance where even if it hasn't been deliberate, whereby where the ball bounces off one part of the body and then hits the arm whereby its not been given.

Thing about handball is, 90% of the time players don't mean to handball it, even if the hand moves onto it (such as re-adjusting the body, or a miscontrol) so the "with the intention of handballing" is a bit of a misnomer

I can only remember the one with Henderson and it's similar to what you're describing. He wasn't standing though, he was running to block the cross. Replay quite clearly shows it hit his body first then bounced onto his arm. Not deliberate, and he'd even looked away to see if the cross was going in.

Like so many of these decisions, it's down to the ref's interpretation.
The "unnatural position" thing I quoted is a bit of a joke really - nobody runs or jumps with their arms glued to their sides like a footballing version of Riverdance. The ref has to decide if he thinks it warrants penalising, so there's always likely to be argument.
I think that one would have been ridiculously harsh, though, as he clearly knew nothing about it.

Unnatural psoition doesn't just mean arm by side though. If you're running arm will be a bit further out.

I think you get some obvious ones where arms moved towards the ball or the Leicester one where guys slid in with his arm up above his head... making himself bigger to have an impact on the ball.

Anything where it feflects off off another body part and doesn't give you enough time to move arm away shouldn't be handball and most cases it's not given which is correct.

Liverpool have scored four winners in the premier league era v Everton in the 90th minute or later- twice as many as they have managed
    against any other team.
Everton are now winless in their last 12 league meetings with Liverpool, their worst run since they went 15 games from 1972 to1978.

calm down, i said it was a free kick.... you've misread my post, i mean you've been given pens for the bounce off body to hand move (i'm sure i won't find any evidence on youtube though as i'm not sure anyone ever compiles youtube videos of handball pens).

That one, i think momentum bought his hand up. Even then you could argue he didn't know anything about it as he turned his head and wasn't looking at the ball ala henderson. As for "making himself big", hendersons arm was 90 degree perpendicular (i think this is a natural position) but he's still big which cause the ball to deflect off his hand. Thank god there are interpretations like yours that let terry and cahill get away with all their handballs :p

Pretty sure i see deflections from body to hand mainly given. Shame we don't have any stats on it

I'll give you an 'unnatural' position: when we played Palace one their defenders diverted Ford's header to their goalie when he simply jumped with his arm above his head. It was bang to rights, but I understand why the ref (though not the lino) missed it. But as BBC Salford didn't even show it on MOTD and focused instead on a 'foul' by Matip (that was actually a foul on him by Benteke) and another by Lovren that was outside the box, it was, as with most decisions that Liverpool don't get, brushed under the Manc-run media's carpet of convenience.

Tbh i think everyone missed that. It was only on super slow mo that people noticed it. I don't think its because the refs didn't call it, just more that they missed it.

Picking over the bones of a week old carcass here, straight forward game no real moments to debate other than that tackle.

Hope we get 9 mins added time every week.

Teams that can finish in top 4

    Chelsea
    Liverpool
    Man. City
    Arsenal
    Tottenham
    Manchester United

Six teams, out of the six two are not going to make it.
It's time for Arsenal to be kept out:kiss:.

As long as one of them is United and one of them is not us, I'm really not that bothered as to who misses (edit!) top four. I think we can say with certainty though that Chelsea would need some catastrophic collapse to not make top four now. Being honest, even to stop them winning the league would mean dropping practically no points and hoping they really stumble in the run-in. If we're within three points by April (big, big if) I might believe, but even though we have a 'soft' run-in, I recognise that their squad has been here before and won it, and we haven't. Chelsea's to lose, and I don't say that as a jinx as their squad is sadly too savvy to fall for that.

<laugh> first learn to spot the difference between Milner and Henderson, then learn to spot the difference between an arm and a body <ok>
