There is no such thing as loyalty in the PL these days, true. It's a word only fans seem to understand. But Saints put their foot down and got another season out of Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Mane. They all went in the end, and so will Virgil, who is frankly too good to spend his whole career with us. Not yet though.
You'll have the basis of a decent defence if Bailly and Shaw stay fit so I can see where you're coming from. Martial on the left wing is poor. He needs to play up front. Ibrahimovic will be about 47 next season. Central midfielder is the one I was less sure of because I think Ander Herrera is criminally underrated. Suppose you need to find the next Carrick though.
I'd go as far to say that Van Dijk is too good to spend his career in England to be honest. He's superb.
Valencia has surprised me at right back and Darmian is a decent player. I also still think Jones can be a very good centre half if he could stay fit for longer than a 3 game spell. Bit of a contradiction in bold as you also said we needed a new striker. Rashford is also there to step up. I'm not a big Ibra fan but he's scoring goals and not playing like a 46 year old. I think he'll be able to go another season. Herrera is superb. We're lucky he's stayed as long as he has given how **** LVG and, at times, Mourinho have treated him.
It's all a bit daft for me to say all of this. We've just won the league with Danny Simpson at right back and Marc Albrighton on left wing. You need a squad that likes each other and wants to work for each other to win the league.
